Have you updated windows using live update
I am running xp on a laptop works fine for me but last week i updated and it was crashing i did a system restore back to a previous date and it fixed it.
Never looked any further into the problem.

might be worth posting on the tunerpro forum, might get more people there that have experienced the issue ?

mine is always slow detecting if nothing is plugged in, occasionally it locks up too
there should be an option to switch off automatic detection if you want to

yeah but you have to be able to get into tuner pro to do it :P

but if you can get it working on another machine maybe copy the config file over after disabling the detect hardware option ?

I had the same problem found the quickest way was delete the plugin then start tunerpro rt and I was able to get in and reconfigured it.
My problem was no com port available when starting tunerpro rt which is now fixed on my laptop.
Don't make excuses. Make more horsepower.

What version of the plugin are you running there was a glitch an early version if the port was unavailable tuner pro would freeze on start up. I suggest you check what you have and the get the lastest, if you do have the lastest report the issue to antus.
