its been a ragey kind of day.
so we buy these x240 blades. they have cards inside them which, allow connectivty for FCoE over 10GbE and the usual .... CNA i think they are called.
last year, these shit fucking things took 1 year of one of my guys time to troubleshoot and basically develop the fix with their engineers.

this year, these same cards, which WERE building AOK with vSphere, now, fail to order the NICs correctly.
proposed solution ; there is a workaround ..... WRONG ANSWER MOTHERFUCKER, our hosts are stateless and autodeployed, try again.

we got told that we were complaining because we 'liked the order of the NICS from 0-5, not 0-1 and 128-131' and its not a hardware issue
