Custom tune. Came with the car.

Post by Streetholden »

Hey guys, i bought a written off berlina few weeks ago. Im putting everything from the berlina into my exec. Now hes the problem. The PCM has a custom tune, he said that when i bought it. Now im looking at it all it has is "TBS" as the sticker then "BSTK3" Written in. I understand the BSTK part but i cant find any info on "TBS".

The other issue is that it was tuned for a soild diff. My exec has IRS. Can i still use it or should i just use the stock chip?

can't see how the diff would have any effect on the tune as long as it is the same diff ratio

haha wow, thats the exact same tune my wagon came with :D
it has booooooatloads of advance that one, dont run it unless you have extractors. the diff is completely irrelevant.
holden202 found the tbs guys website, I camt remember it.

Thanks for the info. Also forgot to mention it had pacemaker extractors, twin high flow cats. Have no idea if it was tuned with those on tho, could i get away with using stock extrators, y piece, cat and have a 2.5" cat back lukey system?

Thanks Jayme, i guess im sticking with the stock for now, then grab a memcal from here to do some live tuning myself.

i tried Jaymes tune in my ecotec and it pinged its ass off so im not sure how they get it to work .... i have 2.5 from Y piece back but stock headers .... maybe that makes all the difference, but i doubt it!!

I think it does.... ive had the same experience with v8's. stock headers dont seem to be able to take as much timing as extractors. took a good tune from a car with extractors, everythign ecactly the same, except the cast headers... pinged its ass off, had to reduce timing.

Cheers for all the info guys, ill just use the stock one. Anyone know what its worth tho? Id much rather sell it to get some cash to go towards a "NVRAM PCM Conversion" From VL400. That way i can tune mine on the fly since i dont have a memcal reader/burner.
