its worth getting some kind of chip reader / writer anyway, as when plugging/unplugging nvrams its posssible to accidentally erase them. it doesnt happen to easily so long as you power down the pcm before inserting removing and the nvram, but you can bet its going to happen some day, and then you'll need one or access to one.

Today when finally putting that PCM in i noticed a pressure thingo attached to the harness near the plug. Anyone have an idea why its there and the effect itll have?

Iv attached a photo as well.

looks like something to fool the ecu into raising trans pressure ide say looks like its hooked into E14 and E15 pins of ecu which is pressure control of the trans

Oh true, so much damage can be caused? Im going to guess itll produce abit harder of a shift?

AS previously said above, can much damage be done by it. But also, what the hell is it?
After contemplating about it tricking the PCM about the pressure, I came up with an idea.
Now this is going of what you said about it being the E14 and E15 wires.
Im thinking about ditching that weird thing and putting in a resistor and switch set up. I will have 2 x 3way switches. Off meaning its back to standard and one meaning theirs a resistor in the circuit and the second on will be a another resistor to trick it and provide a harder shift. Do you think this would work or have i gone wrong somewhere?

While it will prob work ok (i assume the resistance of the installed one is around 10ohm or so?) it can all be tuned in the memcal so its only got pressure increase at higher throttle positions keeping the light throttle shift smooth as well as having pwr/econ with distinct patterns and shift quality :driving:

Thanks for all your replys guys. I know its been along while since this thread was last posted in. I havnt had much time to play with cars as of late. I finally incorporated my switch and 10ohm resistor idea today.

However even with stage 2 on (20ohm) I can not feel a difference in 1st to 2nd. Either i did something wrong or the resistors not good enough? I used a 0.5w 10ohm resistor. Iv tripped check the wiring through the "shift kit" and the e14 ad e15 wires. It is hooked up to both, or should i chop say the e14 or e15 wire and put this system in line with one of those. I thought i had this figured out with help from you guys as well. I guess im still in the refining stage lol.

What are your thoughts? As said above i could do it though the memcal, but i dont want to do that as of yet. Im only interested in a stand alone unit/add on as sus. Once i finish the engine mods then move onto the transmission ill have to do the memcal.

Also the resitor i used was the blue one in this: http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID ... rm=KEYWORD

Thanks in advance.
