Post by The1 »

Hi all, tried to use a Winbond EEPROM W27C010 for the VS V6 instead of the stock UV FM27C010 but it doesn't like it, fan comes on etc etc, the winbonds i have are 70ns is this not quick enough perhaps? what chips do you guys use?

should be fine at 70ns are you burning a stock tune on or modded one if modded disable the checksum by setting program id to AA or it will do weird shit

VS will start and run with a dodgy checksum, you get a CEL though. I would be checking for a bad solder joint and also confirm that the EEPROM verifies against the bin you burnt.

im thinking one the chips was bad, i only tried one then went back to the factory chip, however tonight i tried the same chip in my tech1 cartridge it didn't play ball either, then tried another and it was fine, even though the first chip read and erased fine.
