tuning vy v6 sc with osrich 2.0

Post by jezza351 »

Hi guys was wondering if anyone has tuned a vy v6 sc with the moates ostrich 2.0, i am having trouble loading on the bin file it says the file is bigger than the ostrich ram but from some of the forums ive seen they have been able to tune with it, so just wondering if there is a way around this problem?

Jezza,
This is still a work in progress but it6 getting closer.
Moates should soon have a G6 adapter for the memcal socket in the ECU to the Ostrich on their website.
I've been doing some development work and there have been a few bugs to iron out with TunerPro but that is also looking very promising.
Once these have been sorted it will be ready for realtime tuning. It will also allow the switching between 4 Tunes on a 29F040 chip with cable and rotary switch.

Regarding the issue of uploading bins, View - Toolbars, and ensure "Emulation Bank" is selected, I normally turn all the toolbars on.
With this done you should see a dropdown menu, select Bank8 or 4mBit, will depend which version of TunerPro you're using.
To get the car to run, you'll need to stack the same bin 4 times to make a 512k file.
Some tables will run from the $02000-$06000 and some from $22000-$26000 so it's difficult to realtime tune, this is where the G6 adapter comes in.

Hopefully this will at least get you started, once the G6 adapter and TunerPro are sorted I'll post a full set of instructions of how to use it all.

Bit of an old post but I was just curious as to how this is going and is ostrich 2.0 (with the G6 adaptor) a good investment for tuning a S/C VY?

There are 2 options.
1. Ostrich with G6 adapter.
2. NVRAM and mod'd bin from VL400 for realtime.

Which way you decide to go will depend on how many different types of vehicles you want to tune.
With an Ostrich you can tune anything memcal based (VN-VY-not flashed base) with the right adapter and cable.
I haven't tried the NVRAM yet, but will hopefully have a play over the next couple of months.
If it is just to play with your own car the NVRAM looks good, once fitted pack the ECU away and forget about it and do everything through the ALDL connector.
