hi kaboom,
yes, our workshop is around the coner from siruis, i remeber somone used to work there that played around with the delco, is that you?
u mean a 116 giulietta or the early model? if u mean 116, is it the bosch or marelli dizzy i need?
i will get the engine running with a dizzy then convert to CAS, as i already have the lada crank trigger and wasted spark coil packs.
i assume you tune your delco ecu yourself?
Cheers, Brad

Yeah thats me...

Lol, you ended up with that manifold? Neat

Use a 2L 116 dizzy with a internal reluctor and lock it off. The ECU will handle your spark advance.
...when in doubt, simply throw more electronics at it!

hi guys,
its been a while, and progress stoped
however today i started again, i took the camira harness, and stripped all unwanted wires and plugs out of it,
so now im left with everything required for fuel and ignition. i have taken the power for the ignition module from the ignition relay, will this be ok?
next step im going to weld a metal disc onto my crank pully, then set it up on a degree wheel on the mille and make the cut outs to form the trigger wheel. then hopefully make the sensor mounting, im just wondering, does it matter where the sensor is located? does it have to be inline with any marks when the engine is on tdc ? or can it go anywhere?
cheers, brad

Yes, but make sure you run seperate wires. One mistake I made was to use a common power feed for the fat coil side power and the other logic side power of the module, and the laptop showed RPM detected, but the coils didnt fire. Ran seperate main power cables back that that resolved this. Also the red and the black on a camira 2 pin plug that i re-used happened to be coloured backwards for the 6 cyl module.. so something else to watch out for.

Yes, I think it needs to align with the notch as shown here, not with the notch with the extra notch. Can anyone confirm for 4cyl? Note that the 4 cyl module still uses the same 6 notch pattern.

Also check this thread here, I have recently implemented this type of sensor on a straight 6 with success. Might give you some ideas.

Good luck, let us know how you go! I plan to convert a couple of 4 cyl vehicles to this system sometime in the future...

thanks for the tips,

been lacking motivation latly, as this is a background project while i build my track car, but have got my ignition system working witch has given me some hope of getting the engine running. i set the trigger wheel up in the lathe, set the crank sensor in the tool post, made a bracket to mount a spark plug mounted off the ignition module base plate. pluged a spark lead on hooked up the power and earth to a battery charger (all i had around) and started it up and it worked! :P although a very weak spark and had some earthing issues...

have now been looking at the loom again, have worked out which is the power for my fuel pumps and have power and earth for the ignition module. can anyone confirm that the pink with black stripe wire comming from the igntion relay on a camira harness goes to the ignition switch??

not knowing much about o2 sensors... i have 3 wire, and the harness is single wire, can i use the 3 wire o2 sensor? do the two remaning wires go to power and earth or are they for a air/fuel ratio gauge?

cheers, brad

The other two wires are for the heater element in the sensor.
