One thing you may want to invest in while your at it is a fuel rail valve for fuel testing - they do random testing at national open meets and last time we got tested had to pull a line off the rail spilling fuel over a hot engine... Testing fuel in the tank is not enough. Also methanol mixed with castor oil is an illegal fuel if your still using that, must be injected post carb/injectors.

yeah i am pretty happy that with everything that i've modified i don't have any issues with most of it!

also once i do the above i am right to race all the way to 11 seconds before i need to change anything else so when you look at it that way its pretty good really.

i honestly reckon all said and done i'll just about be racing and i've spent less than $10k to get there .... (wish i kept a good total to know exactly)

tonight i removed the 65mm TB so i can transfer sensors and then fit the 70mm one, while i had them off together i thought i'd take some pics of the differences.

the back side of the 65mm one measures 66.5-67mm and the 70mm one is 71mm in the same spot.

you can see in this next pic there is a fair amount of difference in the bolt up flange thickness, also can be seen on the stock one is a big step which the other one has had machined out of it!

Ok guys, thinking out loud here trying to work out the best solution.

So while im in the process of moving the battery to the boot and re-running all the fuel lines with braided stuff etc i thought maybe im better off changing the fuel system to have the surge tank in the engine bay as apparently if you go fast enough the g forces push the fuel backwards in the car and effectively limit you fuel pump capacity etc....

Sooo .... this is my current setup:

the thinking is to make a surge tank in the engine bay that fits in the battery area and has an angle on it going back to where the fuel pmup connects as this will also direct fuel towards the fuel pickup aswell as funnel it in on acceleration .....

so this is all fine and dandy, but then i had a thought, with the surge being in the bay and the return going back into it etc will there be too much fuel heating occuring, keeping in mind the lift pump should be able to circulate fuel and i can make a heat shield to somewhat lessen the effects.

so i was talking to a mate and he suggested this option and reckons it would be better for returning excess fuel to the tank without having the issue of the fuel staying in the engine bay and getting heated more.

so this method means more than likely if there is a low level in the surge tank the engine return will go into it then once its full it will go back to the boot tank, thus meaning there should be no issues of the surge getting too low but also allowing return to tank fuel to be cooled and circulated around the whole system.

i also have a holley black lift pump which currently have 4psi rating but i can change the spring in it to put 14psi into the system if i need to move fuel more, but currently the return to the tank is like a hose anyways so i figure theres plenty there.

what i'm wanting to know, does anyone have any other reasons for or against either option or another option all together ?

well i had a chat to my dad about these options last night and he reckons that its not even worth having a front mounted surge tank in an efi application.

he reckons that the g-forces imposed on the fuel system are only really going to be a problem on a carby which has a small psi pressure and the efi system running at much higher pressure is not as suseptable to it.

before i totally discount it though i'd like to try and find out what sort of pressure drop people are seeing with a rear mounted one compared to front .... because if its only a few psi then its negligable for the extra heat it will create in the fuel system i reckon.
