i got a vr ss manual and i have some questions.

the pics of the ecu says its a vr ss ecu, but the memcal has vn vp written on it.
would the memcal be the wrong memcal

can you use this vn vp memcal on the vr ecu 16183082

it does not appear to be going into limp mode at all, the fuel pump turns off but the fans have been rigged to turn on with ignition power and no engine light when motor is running but the engine light is on when you turn reds on, ie it turns off when you start the car

i cannot find a xdf that will read the bin file on the chip on this memcal.

does anyone have a xdf and a bin file for a stock vr ss manual that they could give me to tune the car

one that will show correct numbers in the fuel map / timing map as all i am getting is jibberish

this memcal it has, is there some sort encrytion or something funky done so you cant read the bin file from it

would love a xdf and matching bin that works, when looking on the library here i am finding some .ecu files that wont even open as a xdf in tuner pro

do i need a correct memcal for the car, is that my issue...

memcal bin i downloaded from the memcal unit with eprom reader

For vr manual you want the ose$12p software package in the custom code section. The zip contains a factory v6 and a v8 tune and all the xdf and adx that matches for tuning and logging data

does that memcal look like one that can be read and written on with a ose12p file without any issues

i have seen aftermarket ones like this on nissans that came from japan and they had encryption on them and could not be used normally.

is this one of those or is it just a aftermarket version, im concerned because it has vn vp written on it. does that matter

It doesn't have VN VP written on it, it has VNP... written on it, whatever that might stand for.

The chip is an M27C512-90 EPROM, so yes, it can be rewritten, but you need to erase it under UV first.

If this memcal has any encryption, it can only be swapped address and/or data lines, since it lacks any other chips to do anything more fancy.

27c512 will need to have the $12P stacked to fit properly.

the fact you have an '082 ecu means it has the required parts inside it to work in a VR/VS manual, the only other part it needs is $12P code which will work also with the right settings.

you can put that memcal in anything from VN - VR V6 or V8 .... but if the resistors on that memcal are set for V8 then it wont work real well in a V6, other than that its just a matter of loading the tune you want and it should work.

i removed the chip from the memcal and was able to read it properly this time.

i tried to put ose12p on a chip but it runs in limp mode. i dont know how to stack the bin

how do you do that

when i try look at it, all the ve map is at 27

You can write 12P on it at an offset of 8000 and that will allow you to run it without stacking assuming that it's a 512Kb chip.
