the electronically erasable chips are the easiest but if you can't get them then this is another option

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/UV-Eprom-Eraser- ... 286.c0.m14

its the same as what i have, i had to cut the plug off mine and put an australian plug on it but other than that it was fine.

actually theres this one which comes with adaptor apparently.

be aware with the UV method that the chips can and do wear out. You might get 1 burn or 10 or more, depending on the quality of the chip especially the second hand ebay ones.

Searching on google & not able to find much in the way of the eproms that you have mentioned eg. 27SF512 or 29C256. But I have found some "AT29C512 512k CMOS Flash Memory" are these ok? Do I still need an eraser?

nar, the at29c512 is electronic erase, you erase it with your burner. I get my 27SF512's from http://www.futurlec.com.au

The chip that I found "AT29C512 512k CMOS Flash Memory" is from "futurlec " so these ones are good. Found some sockets on the same site, I think these are the correct ones "ICS28MT 28 Pin Machine Tooled IC Socket"?

yip 29C512 is fine make sure its faster than 150ns faster is 120ns 100ns etc 100's and 150's will be marked 29c512-10 or 15 12 is 120ns just watch out cause 40 is actually 400ns too slow.no need for an eraser with them types of chips the willem blanks them.and a 28 pin 0.6" wide DIP machine pin socket is correct

So 70ns is good?
With the sockets, am I after the "ICS28MT 28 Pin Machine Tooled IC Socket" or "ICS28NMT 28 Pin Narrow Machine Tooled IC Socket" ?

70ns (nanoseconds) is good. ICS28MT regular width is correct.

I've got the Willem programmer, comes with several chips, usb cable, printer style cable. No cd or instructions. Also has a separate external power supply plug but no supply & no reference to what voltage.
