as far as i can see they are the same device just one comes with an adaptor and the other comes with a 27c256

i'd go for the one with the 27c256 as you can use it with reprogramming .... unless you have a specific need for the adaptor....

also the 27c256 one is cheaper!

it looks like a newer version but virtually the same as what i have, haven't had any problems with it, been burnin for yrs!

The memcal in my ECM is an "Atmel AT27C256 7OPI 0604" it hasn't got a window like the spare std one that I have, do I still need an eraser or is this erased by some other method?
What else is needed to burn chips?
I have Tunerpro installed. Questions have probably been asked 100 times before, but I'm trying to make sure I get everything that's needed.

I would have expected it to be an Amtel AT29c256
they are the electonic erase ones, you just hit erase in your burner software, no silly UV lights needed :P

if its a 27C256 it could be a one time program one if it has no erasing window 29C256 or 27SF512 are electronic erase

handy you've got one of those chips in it .... does it look like its been soldered in or original ?

they are the next best thing to the realtime board.....

if you want to do it this way though you will probably need a header adaptor board, or else you'll need to fit a socket to your memcal so you can remove the chip to burn it....

The chip has been soldered in, it was down by a friend that is on a different shift to myself & to much mucking around to relay stuff to. It is also for use with Methanol for those that aren't aware.
Which are the best chips to get?
Will also need a socket to replace chips easy, so I can set up a couple of tunes to test at the track.
