I agree with your logic. The only way to get experience is to get experience. You taking an active role, helping your son build his car will mean that when he finds something questionable, he's more likely to come to you with it. At the end of the day the most unpredictable part on a car is the nut behind the wheel. I think by going the way you are going, you are addressing this.ecomoo wrote: Yeah a modified v6 Gemini ute may not be the most practical car to give a young boy, that's why we're building it together so he learns how much work and $$$ goes into a car like this and hopefully develops a good level of respect for it, he's grown up around high powered modified cars/go karts so he has a good idea on how unpredictable they can be at times and knows that stupid behind the wheel = dead

Re: VT V6 into Gemini
Just a quick note about the BCM simulator. Its not just for VATS on a VT PCM, the simulator would also give you a check engine light, low speed engine fan control (will need to tweak the memcal to get around this) and prob not important for your setup but A/C control.
Sounds like a fun conversion for a first car
Make sure you keep us updated on it with pics

yeah no AC and fan will be controlled by a simple Tridon thermo switch so the bcm simulator ends up being a very expensive light switchVL400 wrote:Just a quick note about the BCM simulator. nice, looks like alot of the hard work is done!
does the conversion kit come with larger transmission tunnel ?

The ute conversion was done and engineered before I bought It, Only things I've don so far are the wheels hard cover and later model dash conversionHolden202T wrote:nice, looks like alot of the hard work is done!

No trans tunnel mods needed, just need to move the bake booster over a little bit and the rest is bolt in

Oh here we go...!ecomoo wrote:No trans tunnel mods needed, just need to move the bake booster over a little bit and the rest is bolt in
Might depend on the kit. Engine mounts to suit a conversion using 4L60e would require a smaller sump pan, moving the engine/trans forward enough to get proper clearance in the tunnel than if you were using a T700. 4L60e casing is a bit bigger...
Cool ute by the way...

Re: VT V6 into Gemini
lol im just going from past experience
it must be a fair way forward to yours firebug cause we needed to do some hardcore mods to the tunnel for it to fit!
