May have found the problem. ECM could be faulty. Took out NVRAM board and fitted stock memcal and fans still come on.

Fitted stock memcal to spare ECM and no fans and engine starts & runs smooth.

Ok, put NVRAM board into spare ECM and fires straight up, no fans or CEL. Def a bad / faulty ECM.

Now to re-solder USB comms onto spare.

Will post back with results.

All fixed.

Soldered in USB comms board & write enable wire, now connects with Flash Tool & TunerPro plugin. Tested with writing bin and get bin functions. All worked with no errors.

Not sure what happened to the old ECM then?? As it did power on and blue LED on NVRAM was active.

Cool. For reference thats a week 48 of 2011 nvram. They state they should last 10 years but ive seen trouble in 7 worst case/worse conditions. Interesting genuine sticker but its good to know whats what i guess. Glad you found the problem!
