Re: VN Production Saloon
Two things mate:delcowizzid wrote:better idea build my wagon into a tank and ill come put him in the wall :p
1: station wagons are not eligible for production saloons - i'd be prepping my VR wagon if they were
2: why would any decent rational human being lower themselves to that level?
I built my car to race - period. Thats why i'm in a "non-contact" class. Sure its been a steep learning curve and i have made mistakes - nobody's perfect. I work my arse off to make my car as competitive as i can WITHIN the rules (my copy of the rulebook is getting pretty tatty) and the car and myself are starting to prove that a big old Commodore can go toe to toe, door to door (when i'm not getting hit) with these young hotshots in there ricers - maybe thats whats really pissing them off, and a partly grey haired old bugger in his forties at that.
I try not to bignote myself around the place, pre this season starting i attended all but the first of the working bees at the track, quietly behind the scenes i help out other competitors out of my passion for my sport - in past seasons i've done shitloads of work on the other two Commodores in Production Saloons (those guys have returned the favour bigtime too which is nice) i've helped out a struggling stockcar (as has delcowizzid - thats elsewhere on this site) organising him a decent timing chip and fully porting a pair of heads for sweet fuck all which is a bit dissapointing, built up a motor for a ministock and am providing ongoing support and haven't a clue how much time and effort i have put into a good freinds HQ streetstock which will continue (he might be taking me down to Napier tomorrow to look over another one to buy which will leave me no excuse to not get out there and have a go if he's got two of them going, and all mostly for love - i wish i could afford a decent cam and some legal headers for my production then i'll really be flying - i just get a kick out of helping people out when i can.
To be treated like this is childish and very dissapointing and makes me wonder how safe it is to race with these attitudes out there - its just bullshit especially when two other racers in this class have posted there support for this person, arent we supposed to be adults here?

Re: VN Production Saloon
we just raided an engine out of a vn calais and the k frame rest may be up for grabs for nothing you want me to ask i know its a fair way to come get a car but for free may make it worth it.motorsport is meant to be fun but with people like that with an attitude it can ruin it for everyone people can get seriously hurt by someone with that sort of attitude.but you have to make the next meeting do or die you must have a car there
nice straight one if he ruins that do the same again we can find bodys man ill come stay for 2 weeks and help if he brakes another one make it so fast they cant touch you then your sorted

Re: VN Production Saloon
Knackered and off for shower in a minute but i've got a front cut (the blue one was still on the pile waiting for the crusher to come to town) but the buggers dropped it and its a bit twisted, in a huge display of trust i let my streety mate loose with his gas set on 34G
might just be out racing with a strong car again on Saturday - sometimes it sucks having a day job hahaBuild it, Race it, Break/Bend it ; Repeat.

Re: VN Production Saloon
shes really getting to be a BITSA
got a message from my mate the other day races a street stocker, 2nd race ever
went out, after a few laps fair up it, all of a sudden bit of a noise then zero power ....
3 pushrods in the sump, few lifters, some bits of the timing, oil pump and a 45 degree bent conrod ... add in a handful of piston rings and another handful of random metal pieces, mix it all up with some oil and coolant and thats all she wrote
thats what happens when your street stocker is a falcon i reckon hheeheheh

Holden202 ya not wrong about it gettin ta b a bitsa mate - as long as it can take a bit of punishment and still go HARD is what counts
can't be too much of a slug- got told last night i'm fourth in points - not bad considering four DNF's and two DNS's, its being a season of highs and lows so far
Cheers for the support guys and as for the foulcans i agree but theres plenty of those motors here in Stockcars that really do go hard.

Re: VN Production Saloon
Its a bit of a mission from hell but its coming together, i made a couple of 5mm plates to bolt up to the sway bar mounts with real snug bolt holes and made my rail cuts in the middle of the two holes each side spotwelded some 1.2 plates into the rails for the new ones to slip over and had to unpick and remove the bottom radiator support due to the dickheads at the yard dropping the front cut , got the left rail on sweet - internal plates spotted into new rail and welded up the join no worries which left the right rail sitting up and left about 8 inches and as much again forward held up by the twisted bonnet slam panel, the wife got stuck in with me last night and we MADE (BFI method) the bastard mate up to get the other plate bolted up underneath, didn't mate up too well up the sides at the top but thick steel scraps and vicegrips sorted that till i had it welded, was waiting fot the gas to run out for the mig but had another bottle on hand when it did (got every ounce of gas out of the old bottle as i got sick of the astronomical rental on it and have gone to a new supplier) started mating up the right inner guard and got a few tacks on and the mig just stopped about 10.30 last night - Hmm wtf? hello i've run outta bloody wire
coupla weeks ago my streety mate was complaining that his mig starts playing up when he gets below half a roll and offered me what he had lying around, sent him a txt this morning and when i got home for lunch today his missus had come into town with one ( they live 13k's outta town) - bloody awesome had it in before going back to work, they came in again ths evening and he's been putting me to shame with the work geting done - the man can weld - when you've been racing streetstocks for about fourteen years you have to
and we've been laughing and scrappin over my mig all night, still a shitload of work to do and i've got work in the morning but he eckons he's coming back into town while i'm at work as his new streetstock is ready for tomorrow night and he's as determined as hell to get me out there with all the shit thats been flying lately. Can't thank him enough - he reckons its payback for working on his car - i reckon he's now paying it forward - he calls it racing - the shit we go through for nine minutes hard up it
just as well our wives are best mates ( they got to know each other in the grandstands screaming at there husbands on the track) MATE YOU FUCKIN' ROCK.
