Feature: Grid 9. (bloody bullshit grid draw this night, all inside line-ah well)

Thought i better keep my nose clean and settled into keeping position and not lose any ground, managed to keep ahead of the guy leading the feature points by a huge margin and finished 8th with a car that was getting a bit squirrely the last couple of laps, back in the pits i misheard the helpers tyre pressure readings and thought that a bit of a pressure drop in the left rear explained the problem (reducing crossweight loosening the handling) and got told by the rep not to trailer the car as we were being sent out again for a filler, went and found my streety mate and as he was having a bad night and not a show of being in any points runoffs i took him to the tower to get him officially on the entry card for my car (keeping it all kosher unlike the last meeting) and went and lined my car up on the dummy grid for him while he went to grab his helmet etc. once i had him strapped in and had a bit of a chat i stepped back and noticed the RIGHT rear tyre was almost flat - sent the helper RUNNING to the trailer for my air bottle (i fill up an old 9kg bbq gas bottle with air for each meeting for topping up pressures if needed) and stuck what i had in the tyre.
Felt a bit strange watching my car out there and my mate drove it smoothly and cleanly and i noticed it must have been tricky for him cos' that right rear was appearing softer each time it came by, he stayed on the bumper of 31G till the end and as i was guiding him onto the trailer it stalled and didn't want to go again (hangover fron the dead short in race 1 i think) and i wanted to change the flat tyre anyway to save my exhaust from destruction on the trailer, an announcement went over the PA in the pits for Productions to hold off loading up yet. There was going to be a runoff for first in the Streetstock champ of champs, hauled my spare right rear off the trailer and got it on quick smart got her started and headed for the dummy grid wanting a good position, plenty of time for harness-helmet-neckbrace-gloves-windownet once there, first in best dressed got grid 2, outside woohoo, unnoficial race no points, no cheques but more seat time . Got away cleanly and held the lead for about four laps before i tried something i have been too scared to do in an official race with points at stake - down the back straight at the point wher i usually lift my right boot a bit and stab the brake pedal with my left and swing the wheel i kept the right boot flat whilst i braked and swung, she just sledged straight ahead into the marbles but i managed to gather it up but lost enough momentum for 44G to slip by on the inside coming through three/four, i tried to keep pace with him but that ex-every trophy in class winning car is flying lately and he got a couple of car lengths in front of me in a couple of laps till goig through one/two his left rear wheel parted company from the car, that corner dropped, dug in and catapulted the arse of the car towards the wall and it landed on the track and stayed put just as i was weaving my way between it and the wheel rolling towards the infeild, orange light.
Once the tractor got 44G out of harms way we got a restart and i held on to the lead till the flag dropped and i got to have an extra lap with the chequered in my hand - bugger the lack of points/cheque i got a victory lap. As i came around onto the front straight i started to pull the flag in and head for the infeild lane to the gate for a joke but relented and went to the start/finish line and gave it back - somehow i don't think i would have got away with it

Raced tonight, the missus got stuck in giving me a hand getting ready today so big ups to her :punk:

This'll be a short and sweet one for a change :)

Pulled the nine marble at drivers breifing,

Main 1; Grid 9: finished 4th, no contact with anyone ---- nice. second fastest lap of race by .011 seconds

Main 2; Grid2: WIN :driving:

Feature; Grid 11: finished 6th, had a gap between two cars coming out of turn two onto the back straight which i was filling quite nicely when the 11G BMW DELIBERATELY swung into me to block the path - typical of that driver, got out without much damage and got by him a coupla laps later

good results, fuck all damage so WELL HAPPY - time to be sociable

Haha that i did on both counts mate  was a tad seedy today for it but still grinnin' the brother in law has gone away for a coupla weeks and left me his hilux i borrow to tow to the track so we loaded it up with crap from the shed and yard and went to the tip - the sheds the tidiest its been in months - then i went over to a mates to check out his wifes daily which didn't start for her this morning, sussed out a sticking starter solenoid then we talked shit for a bit as he had a bloody good night in his VL last night too, when i got home 34G had been thoroughly washed and was ready to go back in the shed, then the wife taped off all the signwriting/numbers and i masked off all the white on the sides and cleaned out my spray gun, the missus wants to go away next weekend so if the cars race ready i'll be happy to go - bloody good woman when she wants to be  been helping out a heap more lately and is taking more pride in the car as a result and it frees up more time for me to spend with the family so its all good, its now on stands/wheels off and i'll give it a quick rub down in a coupla spots and blow some red paint on after work tomorrow, won't know myself being ready to race so quickly, might have to pull the die grinder out and have a go at some heads.
