Took the Calais out for the Sunday lunch run. Starts well and runs good with the numbers The1 supplied for these injectors. Plan is to fit the rockers next weekend along with new rocker cover gaskets as the drivers side gasket is leaking big time now, can smell burning oil after a drive where it's leaking onto the exhaust

Upgrade time
Time to fix those leaking rocker covers and enhance the performance just a little bit.
Scungy (great aussie slang) shit
Fitting new shiny shit and testing out the Xmas pressie. God damn I wish I got one of these years ago....
Giving the rocker covers a big birthday
I have fitted new push rods with the high ratio rockers and I'm glad I did, of the 12 original push rods, 9 had worn a fair bit, I guess this is one of the few down sides of roller lifters because now the push rods don't rotate allowing mating surfaces to wear into each other a lot easier. I tried to take a pic with the crap phone camera but they just aren't coming out. Might try later with a decent DSLR.
Time for a bit of lunch, than fit the rocker covers, fit new head light bulbs and go for a test drive

Well she's all back together again and purring like a kitten, Fired up first crank and no nasty noises
Looking a little cleaner although it's gonna need a thorough de-grease top to bottom.
Time for a test drive and to see what the numbers say.

Well it's certainly no worse than before.
I could be wrong but it feels like it revs out a little quicker/cleaner than before. Yet to check the logs.
Kinda a bit worried about the stock 193,000km valve springs though

I was going to ask if you upgraded the springs or not. You must do it, failure is inevitable with 1.9 rockers, even if they are brand new stock springs. I would run 105lb crow cam ls1 springs and the retainers to suit. Mace sells all the bits.

I've not personally experienced broken valve springs with these rockers and have run em on a few cars but the plan is to upgrade the valve springs/retainers and stem seals. My mate is doing an XP cam in his L67 so I may grab his old cam and send it for a re-grind, get a bit more duration and increase the lift

Would definitely recommend upgrading the valve springs.
I had 2 springs break on my VY when running some 1.9 rockers.
When the first broke everyone said I must have been giving it a hell it because they where very strong. So I just replaced that spring and thought nothing if it.
About 6 months later another one let go, I would give it a bit now and then but no way I was abusing it. Went straight to some 105lb springs.
Was very lucky not to do any permanent damage on both occasions. First one dropped the valve but the piston pushed it back up and bent the stem around the intake runner and it held there.

this has got me thinking....
I checked the MACE website but they don't list the Comp Cams 105 valve springs any more, only the Crow items.
Has anybody used the LS6 springs from the US?
