Haha yeh can't do much atm, then when the parts arrive i bet my hands will be full, though im sure ill need a break for some tinkering.

yeh just watch for no name kits, make sure they have branded products, like acdelco, borg, alto, raybestos etc. Have you talked to Jeff as well about parts?

I have a spare trans at home. It's the original trans out of my VS.
It's sitting around waiting for the same thing. (Should I decide to rebuild it).
I'm changing to a Manual T5 anyway so it wont be needed any time soon. Or it will get sold for next to nothing or given to someone needing
a trans urgently Or rebuild and sell for more. I've done a few manual gearbox rebuilds/ repairs myself. Having looked at this it almost seems easier than some gearboxes I've done.
I was wanting to ask a question.
I know my trans has had a flogging (which is an understatement and was due to previous owner being a pig to his car). Still worked OK (as in not slipping at all and changed through the gears fine)
BUT,It had a long delay from selecting drive or reverse to the time it would engage. Approx 3 to 4 seconds. When engaging drive after reversing out of the driveway you could feel it clunk into gear (which was like bad diff lap)
Do you think the delay is to do with wear in the piston?
and The clunk, wear in the gears?
Replacing the trans at the time eliminated the diff lap theory.
Do these diagnosis sound about right or am I way off?
Obviously going manual means it doesn't really matter but I was thinking if it was even worth dismantling to work on it.
Thanks for any replies.

sounds to me like it takes a while to build enough oil pressure to engage the gear, i've seen alot of high km trannys like that and i had the same thing when i put the ecotec in my torana, i ended up tuning the tranny to shift harder and it fixed it a bit, but then put the same changes into a good condition box and it is noticably better....

torque converter looks just like mine :punk:

Will find the jig I made for compressing the springs not as pretty as yours though, what are the 3 solid plugs used for?

This why you need to use the special tools for the teflon seals, thought I had got them right but NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I did not only to find out I had no reverse

Just waiting for a loan of the correct tools off an awesome guy on here and the box will be back in very soon

the solid ones are for removing and installing new bushes.

Yeh does pay to use the tools to form them correctly for the right fit.

Well had some time yesterday so i inspected the valvebody and solenoids, installed new seals on the solenoids and installed the new sonnax pinless forward accumulator, i compaired my valve body plate against the old one and i have the wrong one, Seems holden used 1996 4L60e's in 1995 commodores, the difference is the 3-2 downshift solenoid valve which causes 2 different types of valve body plates to be made, i bought the 46-PLT-95 so i will have to purchase a 46-PLT-96.

Then ive also rebuilt the Reverse Input drum!
