Re: VN Production Saloon
Hey guys, a bit of a red faced update.
Delcowizzid was good enough to send me a cable to get logging, no case and no jaycar in town and the building Dick Smiths was in had a fire that made national news so i ended up using a tictac case haha. Also recieved a memcal from the man so i was away like a schoolboy with a new copy of mayfair and like a twat went looking for the rev limiter - the old straw that broke the camels back ( motor had 368000 odd kays on it before a seasons racing and a lot of that on LPG ) a little man with a hammer sneaked in. That OSE $12P code with soft touch rev limit is mighty appealing HAHA

Re: VN Production Saloon
The crank is toast. gave the journal a bit of a polish and i can FEEL with my finger where it picked up, i have a spare auto crank though so not worried.
The real good news is that i picked up my replacement manual crank yesterday, a real minter, pistons dropped off for modification at the same time and my block should be back in town this week from getting .035" off the decks. With that in mind i took great pleasure in dropping out the auto trans yesterday, will drill out the rivets holding the shifter plate off later and slot the T5 in, the pedal box has been in since i built the cage - i figured it would be a real prick once everything was welded shut, gets weird looks when people spot three pedals with an auto box, and the big auto brake pedal i swapped over for easy left foot braking.

Re: VN Production Saloon
A bit of an update, got the block back on Thursday from getting decked -
rings, bearings gaskets etc should be here tomorrow with luck.
The shed was a hell of a mess after modifying the manual bellhousing to work with an auto starter so a big cleanup in order before the block comes out of the boot of the daily --- but make more mess first. Got underneath the car with scrapers etc ang got about 10kg's or so of sealant sounddeadener and crud off as well as tidying up the engine bay - didn't want to drop my nice new motor in there. Saturday i managed to lock myself out of the shed while the missus was out at a baby shower so got to spend time with our girls so no shed time bugger it all.
Thought i'd share that cos everyone at this end had a good laugh at my expense so now its yor turn
Was tossing up what colour to do the engine bay - got plenty of white - but yawn - got enough black to do it but nah wanna be able to see easily in a dimly lit pit area plus its soo been done. Mate who works for a car rental firm came over and shot back to work and chucked me 6 wee tins of Toyota touchup paint in silver-ish, mixed them together and - yup it'll do nicely, didn't have enough for the wheel arches etc so mixed up 'battle' grey ( cos i had a battle with self over it )

If you listen very carefully you can hear it rusting! You might even be able to hear the fords roaring in the background.
I have been waiting ages to use that one! It looks good though.

Re: VN Production Saloon
thats why i asked, cause my engine builder mate tells me ACL has gone ass up and as a result ACL Race Series is no longer available (except for stock people might already have) .....
i was devistated when he told me that cause all the other brand stuff i have used has been shit compared to ACL ....
