Its probably time for a quick reminder: The only reason you should be adjusting a dash odo is if you are replacing a broken dash or upgrading a dash to a higher spec cluster from another car and you are setting it to the exact and correct reading for the car it is going in to.
Yeah, agreed.... Thought it was a matter of seeing what happens after 999,999. Obviously not the case.
If there dumb enough to do it.. knowing that the kilometers of the car are documented each time theres a change in ownership... then there dumb enough to get caught.

Come on, think of it this way, how'd you feel finding out the car you bought had its kms changed. Id be royally pissed

What sort of progress are you after? eeprom locations?

Yes and also I know it is possible to write to Vn - VS via Bus and Vt - vx are smarter clusters so surely it is possible on vt+

Also some people can read / write on board I cant... :(

thanks

Yeah of course vt-vx clusters can be programmed over the comms. Will need an aldl cable for that one.

And it all depends on the programmer you using, think most people have had trouble programming on board though.

Hi guys, I have mine and my old mans vt's which both have clusters failing, screens are dying and service errors appearing, I have a gq4x programmer, also have access to tech2 and ultrascan scan tools, I have purchursed clusters for both cars, I have programmed all the settings except changing the odometer which no scan tool allows you to do, reading through the thread looks like I'm going to need to remove the chip from the board or at least a few legs? No one has worked it out through the obd plug or cluster plug? Also I think one of the clusters I have brought are later vx ones, both cars are series 2 vt, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Try backing up the eeprom then swapping the eeproms without reprogramming. If you have the same version dash it should move all settings (srs, lpg etc) over.
