Wow thats cheap! those are super rare in the US let alone here.

Its a series 1 3800 L67 Eaton M62. Circa 93 ish

You really have to overdrive the shit out of it though. Its pretty small charger, designed for circa 2L engines. eg Merc Kompressor

The Harrop I'm looking at isn't too bad at 3K, cheaper than a Whipple and from all the measurement and marking out on a spare block it will fit infinity easier due to built in bypass, available in lug mount and the mounting pattern misses everything allowing me to recess the whole charger into the plate while still having thread bosses on the bottom side of the plate for long enough threads and rigidity. The whole aim is bonnet clearance in VN/VP models.

looking to be about 20mm clearance  Just fits, thats with Tuff mounts which are a bit lower than new stock and will stop the engine lifting and the pulley hitting the bonnet. The charger is spaced 11.5mm from the LIM and thats also with the largest 85mm pulley available.

If I can get the complete technical drawing from Eaton or Harrop I should have a prototype adapter machined up at work in my spare time one of these days. For the final product I would also need to have a custom made elbow for the TB.

Not really rare, see about 3 or 4 a year pop up on gumtree....cheap as chips in the states as nobody wants them, seen em on ebay for about 2 to 300us....shipping kills any saving though...
Plenty of l67 package's going around at that price......so Im not sure which way Ill go,just like the idea of keeping the orig buick engine with a little bit of eye candy on top..... at my age Im not really interested in going mach 5 with my hair on fire :D

I've heard those Tuff mounts transmit a fair bit of vibration. Has anyone tried them? Be good to have some first hand feedback.

I looked for ages a while back and never saw one, couldn't even find info about those old systems as no body deals with the 3800 series 1 over there. Most yanks are oblivious to their existence going by the response on forums when other like myself asked for info. I only knew of them due to wikipeadia buick v6 page. And when I searched for them only Merc M62 stuff would ever come up.

Yeah I know you can get a whole L67 for about that price privately, double that on ebay, but usually everything is junk on them anyway.

Anyhow, the M62 would blow away any shitbox SC14 any day of the week.

Yeah I have seen first hand, not sure what people mean by vibration? G's race car runs them and the crank has no counterweights. Still smoother that a inline 4 or ford 6 idling.

I wouldn't call V6s a vibrating engine, more of a wobble. Certainly not harsh like a 2nd order vibration inline 4 and 6 get, though straight 6 tends to be more at idle and really noticeable on fords do to their massively under square engine, goes away with rpm. 4s just get worse and worse with rpm and its that buzzing hand numbing vibration, like the old victor mowers lol

Ha! I was just scrolling through this fb page looking at exhaust weld porn when I decided to visit the page to see where they are. Top post was this!

So my idea had been done before and 95% the same way I figured it out to be myself based on limited drawings.

Hi Mate
ebays search is crap as they have millions of listings so it would take ages to search all over the world...use google images
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=buic ... AE#imgrc=_
to find something that looks right, then check that its a ebay listing or one of their referral pages
