Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
you can buy extensions to go on the injectors
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem
Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
I just googled them, I'd never seen those before.
If I was going to use them though, I'd probably be better off just making a deeper fuel rail - it'd be more rigid and as I have to turn the hats up on a lathe and weld them to the rail anyway, making longer ones is no more effort.
I was thinking of something like those though, but with a flange for clamping down and a hose barb on top instead of a o-ring.
edit - something a bit like this

Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
i would be avoiding longer injector bungs if possible, if you put the injector in too much of a tunnel half its spray pattern will be all over the walls then it will just dribble into the manifold runner .... you really need the spray pattern in the air stream as much as possible.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

I think U looking at the wrong end.... the spraying end is still right down in the manifold, hes just extending the fuel feed of the injector so the fuel rail can sit further away.
on my motorbike engine, I just pried off the O ring and shoved the hose straight on the injector and did up a hose clamp tight, zippy ties to hold it into the fuel rail hehehe. ill do it properly one day... maybe.

Yeah, that's the plan - extend the fuel rail downwards to meet up with the injectors in the manifold.Jayme wrote:I think U looking at the wrong end.... the spraying end is still right down in the manifold, hes just extending the fuel feed of the injector so the fuel rail can sit further away.
Maybe "injector bung" wasn't the best way to describe it, considering that's the term usually given to the manifold ports - sorry for the confusion.
I considered trying to clamp a hose over the injector top, but my oem fuel rail uses 7.5mm hose and the injectors are a little bigger than that.
Not a problem in your setup as you made the whole rail out of larger diameter hose by the looks of it.
The hose tail adapters in the pic I posted are about $16 each (or at least they were a few years ago) so if I have too much trouble fabricating an extra-deep o-ring rail I'll just track down a set rather than waste too much time on it, but I think it should work ok.
Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
I made the first two injector bosses for the fuel rail, they don't look as awkwardly long like I thought they might.
But, when I placed them in cylinder 1 and 4 and tried to place the rail across the tops, it fouls on the bottom of the throttle body
I can't make them any shorter or they won't clear the thermostat.
I'll have to sort out a new tb arrangement before I can go any further, and if it still fouls I might bite the bullet and make a new plenum with an end mounted tb...

Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
Postman Pat brought me a couple of nvsram chips today so I gave my pcb it's first test, and OSE plugin detected the ecu so it's looking good so far.
I'll add the /WE wire to the ecu tonight and see if that works too...

Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
Both flashtool and OSE plugin appear to be able to write (once I worked out the whole emulator thing) which kind of surprised me seeing as I designed the pcb without ever seeing a real live 808 ecu or memcal
I used the '165 schematic as a reference, and the only problem with my board was that I used the unpopulated pin location on the memcal socket for /WE, not the NC pin next to it - but that just needed a solder bridge on the pcb to fix that.
