More remote diagnosis updates. The owner is going over the car now with an auto elec mate of his. Latest word is that the TPS reads 4.932v at 0% and after only 30-50% tps reads 0.05v or something like that on the multimeter.
VSS is being left alone for the mean time because as you said 202 the Grey wire is a common between the MAP sensor and TPS sensor so looks highly suspect there!
Where to go from here? Not too sure at the moment as the TPS is apparently a new unit (of course everything is prone to failure though) and the MAP.................well yeah it's a MAP sensor.
Should we start replacing parts or go back n look at something funky I may have done in the tune? Is there a setting for TPS voltage scaling I may have stuffed by accident??? Would certainly explain the TPS readin 0.05v at only 30-50% opening!
BTW, do the 5L have a little plastic cap between the throttle body blade shaft and TPS sensor mechanism like the ecotec V6s do? I've seen the cap be omitted on ecotecs and play havoc with TPS more than once
What to monitor/ adjust in RT?

Re: What to monitor/ adjust in RT?
Measure the resistance of the TPS and make sure it changes smoothly as the throttle is opened and closed - its just a potentiometer.
Check the VSS PPK value in the tune, it does not look right from the log and should fix the low reading.

Will do Ryan. Pretty sure VSS/ ppk was set at 1250.05 in the tune.VL400 wrote:Measure the resistance of the TPS and make sure it changes smoothly as the throttle is opened and closed - its just a potentiometer.

Am I right in thinking that after finishing a RT tune session that the most recent stat eof tune will be left in the DS1245Y after turning the car off and disconnecting the laptop? Somethings not adding up to me and can't quite put my finger on it.

Re: What to monitor/ adjust in RT?
Yeah the DS1245Y has the current state of tune - thats what your actually changing in TP when your in emulation mode and clicking save to emulator. You initially get a snapshot by clicking "download bin from emulator" to get TP and the ECU in sync with each other. Then any changes are made in both TP and the ECU.
When first starting out I would sugest more doing offline tuning by logging data, analyse the data then make your changes and upload to emulator. Its really easy to get confused and have the ECU in a pretty bad state of tune just changing things all over the place when driving around.

do you have a vs tps on a vn tb will read backwards like you are experiancing
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Not sure Delco. Will bring it up with the owner. Very interesting suggestion though. Will feedback later todaydelcowizzid wrote:do you have a vs tps on a vn tb will read backwards like you are experiancing

Re: What to monitor/ adjust in RT?
thats fine to do that aslong as when you next load up TP5 to realtime you download the bin from the ecm first before making changes.
also on the ecotec TPS ..... i never had an issue when i ran the ecotec motor on an 808, just plugged the loom in and away it went, then when i converted it back to the proper computer and loom i just plugged it in again!
it would be my assumption that if you have 5v on the grey wire going to tps and map then that side of the circuit is right, it would then be one of the other two wires on the sensor that would change as throttle position changed .....
i agree with VL400, resistance test of the TPS will tell you if your getting a nice smooth change in value, then maybe its a wiring issue ....

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Should the TPS read 5v or 0v at 0 percent throttle?

< 0.4v when throttle closed.
