yeh they used to have that stupid rule over 50db was it? they wouldn't give it to you even though you might be able to maintain some sort of connection. not sure if it's still in force today.
Im on short line myself but due to the army beacon being right in the middle of the adsl spectrum my speed isn't as good as it should be.

Im on about 4kms of line, tend to get about 5.5mbit. So I guess they'll go to all that effort to pull more copper through the pits instead of fibre and then have to re-terminate the pairs anyway. And then it'll be obsolete the moment its finished and need to be done again with fibre. Quality use of tax dollars. Not!

4km or 40db is the limit imposed by telstra at the time.

Yep, and the cuts are rolling in...
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... 6719307750
This project has been needed for years. Its been designed, approved and is ready to roll. But the incoming Abbot government wants to do a different section of the road instead, which means they wont have to build anything for at least 12 months. Quite convenient for the first years bottom line. Pity its a very much needed project. Labor had the funds committed but it's been pulled. Destroying of the NBN, and now this, and surely much else. Feel free to post up cancelled projects in this thread. Would be nice to record them in one place. Infrastructure prime minister my ass!
State Infrastructure Minister Tom Koutsantonis told the Sunday Mail last night if work on the Torrens Road to Torrens River project stopped it would immediately cost jobs and cause congestion.
"Moving the project would be a mistake if they (the incoming government) are looking for stimulus," Mr Koutsantonis said.
"There would be at least an 18-month delay (to start work on Darlington) because we would first have to go to Infrastructure Australia and we expect the approval process to take up to May 2015 and then we would have to begin community consultation and start land acquisition.
"We could see South Rd in gridlock."
Mr Koutsantonis said the Torrens to Torrens project was ready to go.
"We've acquired about three quarters of the property, been to Infrastructure Australia, the planning and designs are done, a site office has been established and we've started two lots of early work," he said.
I suggest you start learning about the internet Mr Abbott. It does not forget.

yep probably the same up here in QLD, alot of our major roads are still damaged after the big floods and still have not been repaired.
Our roads up here have had little to no funding since Howard came to power.

and some of the worst parts about it is it ends up costing us more because they are not repaired, a family member looks after truck hauls to cart fresh produce up north, with the damaged roads it adds 2hrs minimum each way ontop of what would be the normal trip, so that extra labour gets added to our food cost.
