Caliper plate ready to weld on.

Two rotors flipped and bolted won't work. There's no clearance inside the rotor to fasten the nuts. I'll go ahead with CNC cut hub couplers.

A 300kg load cell at one foot from center line will be good for 600 ft-lb. That'll be good for around 400 ft-lb at the flywheel given two load cells and a 1:3 diff/box ratio. Should do the trick. A longer or shorter lever arm can adjust for accuracy or huge torque numbers.

It's coming together!

Shout out If you want to gamble on a set of CNC couplers at cost price. I'll probably get the AU stubs cut too for build #2

A little update on this. Pulled the trigger on CNC'd hubs, they'll be here in about 12 days. Really looking forward to getting these bolted up to the car and tested!

Maybe this video could be of assistance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwPP0Ex238M. I seem to remember a discussion on another forum, I think it was the old efi101 forum. I remember some where also had how to wire the retarders.

very nice setup! It would probably blow the budget with the pair of retarders. Aliexpress has them much cheaper than second hand bus wreckers so I might look into them for the next build - if brake rotors don't work for some reason.

A little progress on the software side of things -

Communications with the hardware is all good, PID control looks ok (can't test until the hubs arrive). The basics are there, ramp rate, hold for steady state, torque, hp, rpm etc.

Thats very cool, I didnt realise you were going for data measurement too, I thought it was just to load the engine. Even more sweet! Watching with interest.

It's pretty basic right now, it's my first crack at C++. I've made the serial coming in CSV format so its very user friendly if you know how to parse it. Even excel has a plugin to process it in real time for logs and graphs. TunerPro integration would be awesome!

Hubs arrived! And load cell and hall speed sensor.

Fingers crossed there's argon in the bottle.
