The sensor itself won't give you any useful info without a controller to interface to it, but you don't need a gauge

Does the 12P have altitude compensation/adjustment?
And where does it read atmosphere pressure?
or how does it work?
I though it only measured outside air pressure before the engine started
thanks

I believe theres a setting to get it to read it more often.

Yeah it does, although on cars with boost it becomes more difficult.
stevedarman wrote:And where does it read atmosphere pressure?
It uses the MAP sensor.

There are two modes to operate in, either having baro updated while running or only at key on.

1 Bar with no forced induction: This is the easiest way to have baro updated, it can adjust while driving up mountains very easily. At key on it can take a baro reading, the MAP sensor pressure is going to be atmospheric pressure. While driving there are conditions where it can be updated, WOT if MAP goes higher than the key-on baro it will be updated and conversely higher loads (TPS>37.5%) at low RPMs (1200-3600RPM) its easy to also get no vacuum so can be updated (down) then. This uses the table "Baro params - Maximum MAP offset for baro adjustment" to modify the baro reading.

2/3 bar with boost: It now gets more difficult to adjust while driving (12P does not support that) and you need to set some parameters up to stop it happening. There are two flags "Update Baro During Run" and "Use VE Multiplier Table For VE Baro Adjustment". The first is to stop the baro reading going to 104kPa the first time you get on to boost, and the second is to allow for baro compensation while in boost (its used together with "Baro params - Baro Vs VE Mult").

Will talk to holden202T and will get some more baro info added to the advanced tuning guide.
