Re: Briney's 245 hemi
i'm using a V6 memcal which i socketed. i loaded an APNX bin into TP5. i changed the ref angle to 9.9 degrees and that was it. saved it, stacked it and burnt it to an eprom. i reckon i've got the timing close enough.

Depending on the XDF your using it might be the checksum thats putting it in limp mode.
Either change the device ID to AA to bypass the checksum or as a test burn a standard APNX bin (stacked like you did) and turn the key on - if the fan is on its likely the socket has a bad joint.

Yeah it looks like the XDF item is set to floating point, so either make it 170 or can edit the item (press F2) and change the output type to Hex Digits instead of Floating Point.
But... it does have the checksum calc and it is working (checksum changed from 7146 to 709B with the ref angle change).

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
that fixed it. i put 170 into the KKKPGMID field. changed the ref angle. stacked and burnt. popped it in. fired straight up. thanks for your help.

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
not you just need to convert it to $12P and you can then forget about dodgy xdf's and checksum issues
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
to change over to 12p i need to do one of the comms mods, don't i ? and can i use 12p and keep just burning proms ? or do i have to go over to the real time setup ?

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
You can burn it to your current modded memcal and just keep burning EPROMs. Only thing is you wont have 160baud ALDL if your using that to monitor?
