in the commo the barrel is earthed through the column and some also have an extra earth added through a screw hole in the bottom of the barrel , it needs to be earthed for the key reader

Yeah did that with no effect too.

It finally threw a code, I bridged 5n6 (again) in the ALDL port and was only getting 12's but today I must have had it connected long enough and it had code 31 which googled is "31 Theft Deterrent System Missing Signal between PCM & BCM" which I am told its most likely to be linked to ABS module. I have removed the ABS module and equivalent fuses (I'll post a photo in a bit)

As I am running all VT in an FC I need the ABS, SRS and Airbag systems all disabled. Photos showing fuses I removed to do this...

i would think the code 31 may have something to do with the engine not cranking!

Yep that's what I think but how do I get around it? Snip snip the airbag module out and airbags removed and all wheel sensors cut too

have you been able to connect to the pcm over aldl and get any data yet? if you are seeing chatter then the bcm is connecting to the data bus but perhaps the PCM's data bus wire is not connected? easy way to tell..... turn key completely off. flick key all the way around to start as quick as you can. it should ignore any security and crank..... it wont fire tho coz hte injectors will still be disabled from security. a decent test at least.

I had a bloke with a VT, similar issue, one pin was backed out of the plug where the engine loom interfaces with the body loom over near the drivers side firewall of the engine bay.
