Delco Jeep
Re: Delco Jeep
Thanks Jayme, It'll be a couple of days before I can do this. I think I tried this a few times in the last log(jeep61.2.xdl) it may have what your after. If I was to adjust it, what should it be altered by?

Re: Delco Jeep
Done a quick update. Modified the VE off log2 and done some smoothing as the wide band readings were a bit choppy.
Log this one and post up 1 whole log from first start to finished even if it's a 1 hour log.
A full throttle run from idle to limiter would be good.
Looks better than some of the earlier logs so there's definitely progress.
This 1400rpm spike almost looks like a mechanical design problem?
Cant pin it down to anything in the tune as yet.
How does it run and feel compared to the Jeep tune?

Re: Delco Jeep
Thanks mate. The other bin needs a bit more timing, it feels a bit flat, which is one of the issues I had with the oem Jeep tune, you have to bury your foot in the throttle to keep it going, which I imagine is to get the emissions correct. Using my obd scanner the Jeep doesn't use timing much over 35° at cruise, push it up & it cruises along much better.
Once we get on top of the lean spot, I'll put it on the dyno to optimize the timing etc.

Re: Delco Jeep
Well that's a lot of timing for petrol.
Re: Delco Jeep
depends on the engine... ecotecs use hardly any timing at all, wheras a VL turbo cruises along at 45 - 50 deg advance in places!
Re: Delco Jeep
What about at full throttle? 36deg at 100kpa is a lot. That's methanol range.
Re: Delco Jeep
ok see here, from jeep61.2.xdl
look where you push the throttle open at 7:03 and it goes lean. then while maintaining a steady RPM and MAP, the wideband slowly comes richer. that tells me you need lots more AE (like the throttle pump in a carby) there are loads of lean spots and some of them are VE a little lean but a lot of them are right after you open the throttle and are caused by not enough AE!
as for the timing ... its only 8.8:1 compression, ive seen engines with similar compression with 36 deg+ timing at WOT on petrol. all depends on cylinder/head shape etc. I wouldnt be surprised if thats the timing it needs.

Re: Delco Jeep
I put sone more AE in the last bin. But i didn't look at temps to see if that effects this motor.
Possibly may beed a longer decay time as well.

Re: Delco Jeep
Thanks Jayme. So as a test should I add say 10% to the entire AE table or at the 800 & 1600 cells?
Dylan, thanks for your time, I'll see how I go for time tomorrow, I have to pick an engine block from the machinist tomorrow before I go to work.
