see the frame 40,58,86,AE,06,2E .... that frame is from the BCM and it means you do have a valid key in the ignition. without a valid key that message will have FF FF FF in it. how certain are you that this is the exact PCM that matches the BCM and key?
have you tried flicking the key from the off position right around to start as quick as you can turn it? if you turn it fast enough it will crank regardless of anti theft.

Haven't been home yet so haven't spun the key quickly. Must admit I do always wait to hear the fuel pump spool.
The PCM and BCM are from different cars -the PCM is for a 5L V8 auto and the BCM is from a 5L manual (as is all the wiring). I thought only the key and the BCM had to match?
Or does the PCM have to be from the same cylinder trans combo?

the fuel pump will always prime, its not included in the VATS... its the starter motor and injectors that get disabled. The Key, PCM and BCM all need to match... if you change the PCM like you have, you need to get a TECH2 to relink the BCM and PCM. but the easiest thing you can do is put the memcal from your Auto PCM into the Manual PCM that matches your BCM and use that. the auto and manual computers are identical (almost... some Auto PCM's lack some speed sensor circuitry for the manual cars but that will not affect you) its the tune loaded onto the memcal that is the difference between auto and manual

I have a matching BCM and PCM from a series 2 V6, will that work? I'll try that with the V8 memcal

V6 PCM won't work due to it havin 2 less injector drivers and I think it may be a slightly different pinout

F$&k me....

I don't have a tech2 either, unless efilive or the OSE tool can match it?

Anyone recommend the cheapest Tech2 I can buy that will do this (OBD1) and reset a VZ (OBD2) srs warning aswell?

The SRS module on a VZ is on the ALDL bus, so you just need a regular ALDL interface, and from your screen shot I gather you have that already. Do you mean reset the warning, or disable it because you dont have SRS?
