V6 VT Commodore

Post by mart154 »

Ok, have had this for about half a year now.

Have plans to turbocharge the car and get about 500hp out of it.
Since now ive been gathering and manufacturing different parts for the system.

Turbo. Holset HX40 Super
Injectors. 720cc Siemens Deka
Cooler. As big as can fit, probably from ebay.
Manifolds. Havent really decided if originals with ghetto style piping or proper tubular. Probably proper :) Theyre gonna be self made anyways.
Wastegate. Tial V44.
Exhaust. 2x 3 inch. hopefully. Found some pretty decent aftermarket exhausts on the market for a v8. Probably can make somethin out of that.

I havent really thaught about the intake side yet. But theres nothin much in there anyways. Probably 2.75 or 3 inch aluminium tubing, Tial Bov. Don't really know about flipping the throttle body yet. Suppose it makes my life a lot easyer.

Of course an upgraded fuel system and suspension is a must, but thats about it. Hopefully it turns out a nice sleeper :)

Thats about all ive figured out for now.

What I havent figured out is the engine controls :)
Since now i have only used aftermarket ECUs on my cars. Including MS, Hestec, Autronic and so on and today was the first day i tried to mess with the Delco ecu and TunerPro. Well, it seemed reaaaly complicated. :)

So, if I finally decide to go for the original ECU, i think theres gonna be a lot of questions about it over here. :)

Ok, here goes....

what am i doin wrong? :)

Got tunerpro and the car finally talkin. But...
Had to use VX SC adx file. And still it doesnt seem to be right.
The car turns the engine light on in a while and the temperature gauge seems to 'freeze' in one spot.

Every try i had with the 'right' adx, gave me nonsense readings in tunerpro. Like engine revs goin up to 28000 even with the engine stopped.

The chip is CJKU1912. Car is 97 VT commotore auto.

The plugin, i use is 'tunerpro data acquisition'. When i tried to use OSE plugin, and hit 'connect', the whole TP shut down and asked if i wanted to report Bill about errors :)

VT's do go a bit spastic when logging too, you take over the data bus so the dash panicks the AC goes funny airbag light comes on. all normal... unless you have a special adx that can sync with the hearbeat frame and only get engien data between the cars internal comms frames... VL400 is more the person to comment about that.

Tried echo both ways (from the plugin settings - as i understood, the adx's settings dont matter in the newer versions.)

The plugin does stress out a bit with all the chatter on the bus in VTs. Try using the standard tunerpro interfaces and just logging. That will silence the chatter and you should be able to log, but it will stop the dash working, as all the ALDL bandwidh is being used by tunerpro to suck as much data as possible from the ecu (about 10 frames per second). Once you get in to tuning you might find you need to log and emulate at the same time, as the logging portion will silence the bus and keep it quite and the emulation part will squeeze in between the logging. Note that when not using the plugin you will need to make sure echo is set in the adx. Also note that the realtime factory supercharged tune tops out at around 8psi, beyond that you would need to go kalmaker workshop.

when using OSE plugin, the echo setting in the adx is irrelevant. but when using the Tunerpro data aquisition, then you do need to set the echo in the adx correctly, and if you leave it off, its gonna be reading the return packet wrong and will go stupid. thats the main difference between the 2 adx's you tried, the vx s/c adx has ignore echo on in the adx already.
