Wiring in wideband to 808 ecu
My new innovate MTXL wideband arrived today, I am working on wiring it into the car.
The gauge is combined with the controler and there is a few outputs coming from the gauge.
The ones I'm stuck on is the analog out wire and the narrowband simulation wire.
I believe the analog out wideband wire needs to go to pin D8 on the ecu but there is no wire or pin socket in the connector.
Where could I get one of these sockets so i can use the D8 input? Is there any spare I could nick from the harness not needed in ecu? or a part number where i could buy a couple.
Then,
The wideband has a "simulated Narrowband" signal wire. Looks like I could ditch the holden narrowband sensor altogether and run the simulated output to the ecu pin D7.
Would this work or would I be better off to just use the factory narrowband and weld in a seperate bung for the wideband?
The analog outputs for wideband are 0v = 7.35AFR and 5v = 22.39v
Analog output 2, narrowband simulation is 1.1v = 14AFR and 0.1v = 15AFR.
holden vp 5.0 running ose12p v111. navram/etc.
Not sure what to do here?

I think the wideband input is D8.
Have a look at the attached .pdf that I think is from this site.
Use a wire in the socket that is not used and repin it to D8. I think most would put an additional bung and use the wideband sensor seperatley.

See here for some info about repinning the connectors. Theres a bit of a knack to it, but once you have a tool the right size and have got the feel its not so hard. I use a toothpick with good success.

You can use narrowband simulation, but most people have both sensors fitted at once. But part of the reasoning behind that is that you can block of the wideband port and use the wideband on another car. Im not aware of a particularly strong reason to go either way.

Re: Wiring in wideband to 808 ecu
When I started the car the other day just playing around, I noticed the standard narrowband display on the tunerpro dash was hovering around the 450 range. Does this mean 0.45 volts?
Would the MTXL 'sumulated narrowband' be the same as the factory signal? with 1.1v = 14AFR and 0.1v = 15AFR?
I wish the tunerpro read lambda, or just said the AFR for the narrowband sensor. .450 is hard to understand.

Re: Wiring in wideband to 808 ecu
You cant really read AFR from the narrowband, see the output here .. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads8 ... 420738.gif
The narrowband reading of 450 is 450mV or 0.45V. The ECU also reads 450mV with nothing connected or during 02 warmup (the sensor is high impedance when cold).
The MTXL simulated output can replace the narrowband sensor just fine. You can also then play with what AFR you want the ECU to target under closed loop - can say make the MTXL have 1.1v=13AFR and 0.1v=14AFR, closed loop will be around 13.7 AFR then

Do you mean to set this in 0se12p somewhere? or plug the wideband into my laptop and program it somehow?
I have not read the manual right through, just the card with which wire colour goes where.
Couyld you please elaborate?
Thanks.

Re: Wiring in wideband to 808 ecu
ok,
are any of these pins needed on deklco 808 vp 5.0?
just trying to find a pin I can remove to install the d8 wideband.
A3.. flex out 2
A4.. flex out 1
c1.. fan relay. (I have bypassed this and just use toggle switch and a standalone relay.)
d12.. flex out 3.
Could I nick any of these or do they do other jobs? I don't want to strip the harness searching if someone can just tell me...
Cheers.

Re: Wiring in wideband to 808 ecu
Leave the MTXL alone for now if your not sure, once you get a grasp on it and 12P can experiment with changing the narrownband output settings. Standard it simulates a regular sensor so closed loop will still work ok.
C1 is the only pin that will have anything in it from what you listed. If you have no lockup torque convertor can steal a wire off that pin (A7) too.

Re: Wiring in wideband to 808 ecu
most people find that simulated narrow band doesnt work as its meant to doesnt swing like the ecu is switching rich lean rich lean properly best to just add a second bung
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Re: Wiring in wideband to 808 ecu
Ohh Shit,
Just been up at the shed and pulled all the carpet up and dash out, soldered the wideband all in, Cut the old narrowband wiring off harness, soldered simulated narrowband in to pin D7. put all dash back in, carpet etc...
Walked back down to house feeling all pleased with myself...
Then read the last post. Thanks delcowizzard.
Looks like I have something to do tomorrow now, go up and unsolder it all and put the old narrowband wiring back in.
ha ha. shit!
