$11 tune for manual conversion

Post by stevedarman »

I am converting vr v6 auto to t5 manual i think the best way is to use the 424 ecu and turn off all the fault code flags
Will i have to change the gear shift points to keep it in 1 gear as some ecu's will retard timing at a gear shift points ?
if so i guess 4th gear is the best so lean cruise still operates
Or should i leave the shift points and if the timing is retarded at the shift points then what parameters do i change ?

Yes, you will need to change to an '808 with comms mod (or disable vats) for that.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Really the only thing stopping the '424 from working on the manual is the speed sensor, can run $11 with a manual box fine after masking a few codes.

The t5 box has the speed sensor used with the 808 in the old car. I would think they would have the same out put signal so the 424 would see no difference.
So on a gear change does the engine management change fueling or timing to give smother gear change? i know the LS1 retards timing on gear change for smother change.

The '808 has a hall effect input and the '424 a reluctor input.

The hall effect sensor produces a square wave, is this signal no good for the 424 ?
normally a reluctor sensor requires more processing to get a square signal
i would have thought i could use a hall sensor in place of a reluctor
or is there more to it?
