VN spark retard

Post by BIGALSRYD »

Hi guys,

Just started having a play with a mates vn v6. Burnt a $12P APNX memcal with a few small changes to the spark and VE table and took it for a test drive. It gives a bit of a cough if you put your foot down from 0% to anything over sort of half throttle. Watching the dash, the spark advance retards right past TDC and sometimes into negative territory for a second before recovering. There are no knock counts, is this something to do with torque control? Any idea's as to where I should look? Let me know if you would like me to post log and / and or bin, but bin is basically standard with slight different spark.

Cheers

Its sounds like knock. I dont think knock count logging works from memcal, only nvram.

Yeah certainly does, either post your log or have a look in there at the knock retard value rather than counts.

And yeah onboard knock count logging is NVRAM only, can still see the counts in the recorded data log with a PC attached but often miss them due to happening so fast.

Thanks guys, NVRAM was in the car, but just realised knock logging wasn't enabled. Here is one of the log taken a few days ago. Have had another look, and couldnt see any knock retard. Just after a minute into the log is a particular example of it happening

Certainly not shy with the spark advance  64deg WOT advance might be pushing the friendship a little  Whats the standard bin run like? Might be worth just starting again with the APNX cal and making small changes, it shouldnt be too far off.

Whoa, don't know what happened there Must have accidently multiplied by 2 somehow. Advance at WOT was only 32 degrees. Will load the standard 12p APNX again and see how it goes and tune again with the NVRAM from there.
