raptored VY!

Post by drippy »

hi there all
ive just put my raptor charger on my VY and am having a crack at tuning

i dont want to be asking stupid questions but after reading over a heap of the threads im still a little unsure on how to make changes according to the aldl data logged at the time

i am starting from the NA bin $060A

if anyone has a base tune that would suit it would be a great help, tho i am still keen to learn on how to get the tune started and correct to prevent meltdown! :(

EDIT:
so i worked out how to use the history tables in TunerPro, im kinda understanding on what i have to change

with the MAF do i need to change any of them tables as im now putting in more air or dont they need to be changed? just compared them to the s/c tune and they look the same

The maf is calibrated for the maf, so it your still using factory maf then tables remain the same, fueling/spark etc will be different and you could refer to s/c bin data as a start

thanks ill leave the maf tables alone,

one thing i have noticed is my gear changes feel all over the place now, is there a setting i can adjust to correct it under boost?

i will be taking it in for a shift kit to be installed soon as it seems to slip at the gear changes a bit.

shift kit should firm it up. But seeing your doing your own tuning you should be able to map sliprpm to a history table and tune your force motor table

ill have a play around with that once i have got my spark map looking good

is there an easy way to copy and past the history table for rpm vs mgc vs knock, into excel and use a formula to make the changes?

what is the best way to reduce knock as well? i have been pulling spark out but it doesnt seem to make a huge difference between logs

here is a copy of my current progress tune, any feedback would great

Yes, you can literally copy and paste history tables in to excel :) simple at that.

there ar e a few factors to influence the knock.. in the sc v6's there is a tendency to have false knock due to engine noise, particularly if you have swapped out the cam. also it depends on what boost you are running and the intake temps, someitmes you have to remove heeeeeeeaps of timing in the boosted ecotecs, they dont need much.

when it comes up in the history tables for rpm vs mgs vs knock retard, how much spark advance should i take out if it is showing 45 in the table? ive been taking out about 1 degree at a time but it doesn't seem to make a huge difference,

i think your mapping spark advance, instead map retard, then have a look at the running average, then before changing a cell check the history counts to make sure it's not a 1 off value. Hope this helps.

i am looking at the history tables rpm vs mgc vs knock retard, and in that table if a cel is showing for example 45, i would take some spark advance out of the tune correct?

when it reads the knock retard, how much spark should i pull out of the main spark advance at a time? if its showing 45 in the knock retard history table would i remove 2 or 3 degrees out of the map? or more?

sorry about the questions i just want to get my head around it all
