ecu from Astra ld with 10 pin obd1 connector

Post by Brent84 »

I have the above ECU in my turbo Mirage that is running closed loop
The car is running rich and I need to find a interface for the 10 pin
Obd1 connector so I can see what's happening .
I can't seem to find anything or get any help with it.

Does anybody know what I could use ?

That pcm will only support the 160 baud (very slow) data interface. It would be well worth your while putting a high speed interface in the pcm and running ose12p on it, which will give you a very good environment for running and tuning boost.

See the thread here: https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... f=27&t=356

Also read the getting started guides at the end of the faq here: https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... f=7&t=1396

Is it a custom tune allready? Do you have a 2 bar map sensor to handle the boost?

The LD astra is not supported out of the box in $12P but there is a 4 cylinder base isuzu G200W 4 cylinder tune you can start with, and copy the fueling and spark tables over (use excel to resize them to make them fit). If your car has a custom tune already and you can read the chip, that is an option.

Thanks for your reply .

It has a custom tune and passed a full rta emmisions test . After talking to the
Person that tune it they told me its running closed loop and shouldn't
Go out of tune it is probably a sensor . I'm thinking it's maybe the map sensor
As ive already tried replacing the o2 sensor. Just need to find what sEnsor is the cause.

As I understand it I dont think its quite that simple but someone else can probably add specific info there.

If you want to scan it as is, and it is not modded for high speed, you can try the info from this page: http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl160/vn_aldl.htm but the results will be crappy and its the best you can do without upgrading the ecu comms and the code.

The "running rich" could be caused by any number of issues... We could just suggest sensors until you find the faulty one (it may not even be a sensor at fault), but that's probably not the best approach.
First of all you really need to know what software the ECM is running in order for an interface to be of any real use; the serial datastream that will be output by the ECM varies depending on the operating software.
You could ask your tuner, or if you have access to an eprom programmer you could read the data off your memcal and post it here for us to give you some guidance.

Are the EPROM burners in eBay safe any I should avoid ?
I don't want to destroy the chip when trying to read it !

Or would I be better of taking my car for a dyno tune to find the problem?

the gq-4x is used by a lot of us with good success, but if you look around most should do the job, but make sure you get a 'true usb' one (pehaps search 'true usb eprom programmer' or similar) as a lot of the old generation need old laptops, and the marketing mentioned usb, but in practice the usb was for power only.

Its also possible depending where you are a forum member might be prepared to read it for you as a 1 off to get you started.

The dyno would be a waste if the tuner doesnt have the tools to work with the ecu properly.

A dyno tune probably won't fix the problem (unless it is the tune itself that is the issue), infact, typically you would want to rectify the problem before taking it to the dyno.

check this thread. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... =33&t=1212
Most programmers should be pretty safe, just make sure you have the correct chip type selected and click read (not write )

If you're interested in tuning your own car, I would highly recommend investigating Antus' suggestions regarding the comms mod & ose12P.

A 10k resistor can be used to show the error codes on the CEL if all you want to do is find out what sensor is reporting an error.

That's would be good bud how can I read the error code as the ecu is wired
Into my mirage . Can I wire up a light to see the flashing error code ?
