how to make the 2 step antilag ??

Post by V8hilux »

Hi,

I run my delco powered hilux at the 1/8th mile last weekend for the first time and done a best of 8.64 with a 60 foot of 2.24 which
put me in the "B" grade at the event.

The turbo didn't really boost until around the 60 foot line and i want to know more about the 2 step setup. What's the pro's/cons and can my delco 808 run such a setup.

what's involved? and does it work with an auto tranny or would i need a transbrake?

I found i was only able to hold 1000rpm with the brakes with the tranny in 1st gear which makes for a rather boring launch.

I'm keen to hit the high 7's and the motor feels strong enough just need a better launch and maybe some more boost.

The car is a 4x4 and weighs in at 2 tonne.

all info appreciated thanks.

You can use the brake pedal switch and a second push button on the steering wheel in series so both have to be on to enable map b in 12P. In map b can then play with spark advance and fuelling - its not anti-lag but works well enough for a better launch.

Thats one quick hilux! Would be scary by the end of a 1/4 mile if its at 88MPH over the 1/8th :driving:

she's scary at the end of the eighth... hahaha

The first 60' is a bit slow2.2-2.3 but after that she flies.... lol

Had a few of the local young fellas in their vn's scratching their heads.

I'll work on the launch more and traction off the start and hope to crack the 7's. :punk:

Not bad for an old farm shooting rig!!

antilag wont really help but a high stall torque convertor would.

I've set up the map switch via button on the gear stick and have map A-B identical so runs good either map.

I have tried setting the map b rpm limit at 2,000 hard fuel cut and retarding timing to try to send some raw juice into the manifold for spooling the turbo but running into lean conditions when the limiter kicks in.

tried setting the retard at 40 degrees but rpm keep climbing up until the hard fuel cut rpm.

Is there any way to have the delco cut spark altogether at a desired rpm rather than just retarding it?

like a hard spark cut at a certain rpm, that way i can keep the fuel going in to be ignited in the manifold without fear of the leanout with a fuel cut?

thanks
