VX Bin Vats Off

Post by doubledip »

was wondering whats needed to be done to the BIN file to disable vats...

is it just tick the box for vats and flash back in .. or do you need to agree with the checksum change... or do you need to change the checksum to AA..

have read lots of things but not sure which is correct

attached is my stock bin file read

Thanks

Have a read of the instructions and warnings here first .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... t=40#p6472

But yeah the basic idea is to do a get cal, set the VATS flag in the received cal and do a write cal. After its finished it will tell you the checksum is wrong and if you want to fix it - answer yes to that and it will fix it. You could also manual edit the checksum before writing the cal if you want to skip the checksum fix by the flashtool.

ok thanks for the reply... i have read thorugh there a few times prior to posting and also after you replied... please clear something up for me is you could.... you say "get cal" and "write cal" but in the thread you linked it says get bin ,edit bin and then "write cal"

if i was to get cal and get bin ... then open "bin" in TP and edit.. when i save does that change the cal as well or should i open the cal and edit then save cal and write cal.... sorry for the simple questions but i want to make sure i am doing it correct...

You can use get bin and will be easier as the XDF will have a 0 offset - should have written get bin actually. Make sure to follow the instructions doing a few get bins before doing any writes.

Now do another get bin that you want to modify. Open it in TP, edit and save it. Use write cal and when the file dialog opens select at the bottom *.bin files so you can see and load your modded bin. It will only write the cal segment. It will write once, tell you the checksum is wrong and ask if you want to fix it, answer yes and it will rewrite with the correct checksum. Should be good to go.
