Maf tuning

Post by Lawso »

I have found myself in a situation that I have to tune a VT V8...

So far I have downloaded the bin, xdf and adx.

After looking at it, most of it makes sense to me, except which table should be adjusted to sort out the fueling.
I have read that there are different maf tables. I would assume that these are to do with the particular maf being used?

So, in the VT V8 bin, MAF Scalar Table and MAF Table Scaled are to do with the particular maf sensor being used?

Injector Rate Constant Vs MG/Cyl Vs RPM is used to adjust fueling?

Max Mass Air Rate Vs RPM will need increasing for additional power mods?

Power enrichment is enabled via the Power Enrichment RPM Vs TPS% Threshold?

The multiple MAF tables, scalars and the tables, are used to get better resolution. The ECU trys to do everything with 8 bits for speed, but 256 steps over 8KHz wont cut it. So instead it splits the 8KHz range in to smaller chunks giving 256 steps for each. These tables calibrate the MAF so the PCM knows X Hz = X flow to base all calcs on. Its not used for fueling changes, its just to calibrate the MAF - this is not easy with the tools most users have so would need to use the manufacturers data for the MAF.

Yoda made a great spreadsheet for PE calcs in the A5 zip here .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=270

From memory the A6 stuff was a little less complicated, there was one less table involved, but can't remember which one, the base principle is still the same.
