Help with tuning

Post by darky82 »

Hi i am having a few problem with my car not really sure where to start or what to play with, i have up loaded a log to show my problems im having.
1 is the vss showing incorrect speed reading from diff gear change, my speedo reads right after the speed corrector kit but shift points are badly being effected, engine will not hit red line before changing gear and in power mode will only change gear when it wants too.
2 my stepper motor is open too many steps on idle for memory is should be between 20-30 i think, it goes right up to 100 steps.
Im sure there are plenty of other problems but these are my main concern atm, any help would be great as i am learning as i go.

ok well you need to change the vss settings in the tune so it matches the actual speedo readings, to adjust the iac you need to turn the throttle body stop screw in more to open the butterfly and lower iac steps.

also what is the car you are logging ?

Ok, will try adjust idle speed screw to drop the number of steps.

Where do I adjust setting for the vss is it in the adx file, and it's from a vs 5.0l s2 statesman.

Where did you put the speedo correction kit, between the VSS sensor and the ECU or between the ECU output to the speedo and the Speedo?
There are 2 wires from the VSS one for Vehicle Speed Sensor High and the other Low, there is a single wire from the ECU to the speedo.
If you can tap into the wire between the ECU and speedo and adjust the speedo this way, should not have to change the tune, if done between VSS and ECU you have a lot of changes to do.

Refer to VS Speed Sensor Diag.pdf for details, make sure you look at the Auto one, as it is different to the manual.

So where do I adjust the vss, and I can't get a bubble to show up in real time on the cells?

Not sure which XDF your using but look for PPK in it. It wont change the dash, only what the PCM thinks the speed is. Take note of what yoda69 mentioned about changing the PPK value and having lots to change!

And again not sure which ADX your using, but data tracing may not be setup in it. Can set it up like this .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... ing#p16781

Diff change should not change shift points much at all (relative to engine rpm and tps position) as speed is taken off back of trans which is before the diff. Main thing a lower diff ratio does is cause engine to rev out quicker so sometimes can hit rev limit before vehicle changes gear.
I would try disconnecting your correction kit to eliminate it as the source of the problem first. If it was connected between trans and ECU you would have a number of problems, but you confirmed earlier it is between ECU and speedo so shouldn't be the problem. Something sound amiss, really need to see a log to get an idea what is happening.
