VT W51 on VX supercharged

Post by antus »

I was asked to take a look at a vx supercharged this weekend. Unfortunately the arrangements were messed up and I didnt get to see the car, but the owner did let me get a read of the memcal to diagnose it. It turns out its a kalmaker W51 tune which should be for VT ecotech, not vx L67. It looks like its been tuned a little - the car has a cam and a FMIC. Its struggling to idle, and is too rich on boost from the description I have. Is W51 a bad choice for a genuine vx l67? I wonder if it would be better with a W81 tune, or if it will be ok with this one after some work? Any suggestions about dealing with an FMIC? Ive heard they can make life hard, but no details on why exactly or what approach to take with them. Hope someone with experience in this are can comment. Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure why but for some reason al gibbs recommended the w5x kalmaker software for my car too!
I'm not sure what a FMIC is?
When I get more time I can have a look into it & compare to a base file & see what's been changed, but all my stuff is at the workshop, hopefully someone can look quicker!

if the W51 xdf is right it reads a 1.4 multi for injector at the top end RPM and CYLAIR :o no wonder it's flooded at WOT. Maybe a operator fault, perhaps 1.04

it is a VX base file ddrh, I've attached it here!

There's stuff in it that can all be converted to stock & guessing the increase & decrease maf stuff will help with the intercooler!

I definately see what you mean the1, very different mapping in that table!

factory:
injectorrate vs mg cyl vs rpm - factory sc.png
injectorrate vs mg cyl vs rpm - factory sc.png (33.39 KiB) Viewed 4182 times
vs this tune
injectorrate vs mg cyl vs rpm - this.png
injectorrate vs mg cyl vs rpm - this.png (34.08 KiB) Viewed 4182 times
Large changes there!

Havnt heard anything back about seeing the car again, hopefully will happen. Some reduction in this table would probably do wonders for the way over rich on boost.

yeah they are massive changes, makes you wonder if there is something else supposed to be changed which would lessen the changes there ? (i have no idea on MAF cars :P)

I seem to recall that the injector rate was like that too when I had my L67 tuned.

it would only be power enrichment settings which are stock, so defiantly to rich, should be running perhaps 1.04 depending on boost.

W51 isn't anything special from memory, W61 or W62 would be better for extended MAF tables or something like that, ive had no dramas with higher boost and using standard bin setup.
