Memcal Reading

Post by VX L67 Getrag »

Howdy all!

I just got my programmer & when I plugged the factory VT Memcal into I tried an auto read to tell me what chip it had on it as it has a few numbers but no real brand related info!

The options after auto read still were
Fairchild FM27LV010
" " FM27C010
National Semicond. NM27C010
" " NM27LV010
" " NM27LV010B
" " NMC27C010
WST(Waferscale) WS27C010F

Which one of these is it for the factory memcal's?
Once I get it working I will post a few of the factory cal's I have & 1 performance supercharged tune!

When doing real time tuning & the likes with tuner pro it will only work with nvram or sram in the pcm is this right & what is the diference between nvram & sram?

Cheers All in advance! :driving:

27C010 is the factory eprom brand is unknown some cheap singapore chip like the older memcals have ide say.just set it too nm27C010 should be fine they should all use the same pinout really anyway.tunerpro isnt really realtime as yet like the package you bought you need to edit then burn an eprom test then edit reburn test unless you have an ostrich eprom emulator or similar but they are still untested as working for VS onwards yet i think

went OK till we blew 2 pistons when it spiked to 15 odd psi had a shitty gated bleed valve that was so shit at holding boost it wasnt funny.we bought a 100 buck donor VT engine and robbed 2 pistons from it and its running again just a bit of engine noise still in there somewhere

NV=Non Volatile
S=Static

Both mean "doesnt clear when the power is cut". I think NV is usually battery backed, S might not be? Either way, it amounts to the same thing - its like ram but your data is not gone when you key off.

Yes, you need something that can accept an update to realtime, the factory eproms (erasable, programmable, read only memory) can not be erased and written to byte by byte or at the speed required to do it in the ECU/PCM with it running.
