Speedo not reflecting ppk change values.

Post by Spin »

Hi all,
I have a v6 ecotech auto conversion in a hilux.
I did not have any realtime monitoring on what the pcm is seeing on road speed.
So I went and got a VS Speedo and ran that also refering to my GPS. :)
At 100 klm the pcm is showing 120klm.
Changing the ppk value is not changing any thing. :wtf:
Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong.
I leave the battery diconnected for at least 1/2 an hour while I am making changes and
consuming coffee.
Besides, I am having a heap of fun in doing this. 8-)

changing the PPK value only changes what the ecu sees not what shows on the speedo

Ahhh,
Ok. :)
I took it that the Vss first goes to the PCM.
It will then out put the changes to the speedo.
Um should I add the chaned vaues or subtract.
Pretty dumb question but to be sure. :hmm:

the ppk tells the computer about diff ratio changes so it can calibrate to real time speed for trans shifts and speed limiter

the output to the speedo is not configurable you need a jaycar unit between pcm and speedo to change the speedo

if you change the ppk in an auto you will need to change the trans shift points the same % to keep gearchanges in order

THX for replying.
True in all acounts.
The idea was simply to temp. set up a commodore spedo to see what was going on.
Speedo in the hilux is cable driven of the back of the transfer case.
Then I changed the PPK value by 20% as it was showing 120 at 100 K's.
It has made a big difference in all with a bit of tweaking in a few areas.
I did not want to make any drastic changes untill I fit it with real time.
Eventually I am wanting to run dual spark maps as it is fitted dual fuel.
This is getting very addictive. :study:

The vs is easy to setup with dual fuel and dual maps as the gas still runs its own controller just the switch over is done by the ecu. The vx vy controls the gas mixtures also, alot harder to do
