VT V8 NVRAM & SETUP ON TUNER PRO RT

Post by v8-tuning »

Hi guys
recently got a pcm nvram to suit vt 5.0 manual
starts and runs great.
I did the pcm mod and put in a switch as per the bcm be gone thread.
I also set up the tp plugin
It will not connect or show the bin file eg vt v8 cnjn bin
It also wont log data it just goes haywire, tried both bcm
on and off and in off it just kept crashing tuner pro.
Thought this would be easy,i use tuner pro rt on all previous vn-vs
with no issues also using a moates emulator and never had so much trouble
getting something to work.Prob something ive done
lap top is new and using windows 7 and i tried the vt v8 adx
on the stock chip etc and it worked 100%
would really appreciate some help, spent all day on it with no success.
Although the car ran good on the 195 tune.
Also read through the pdf rt tuner pro setup just out of ideas atm. :comp:

With it going haywire, have you got ignore echo set in the plugin setup? If it works on the stock chip it should be identical with the nvram though.

In the plugin instructions there is a bit on how to enable echo .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=590

It over rides the adx echo setting, if your not using the plugin (ie not tuning and bcm is connected) you need to enable echo in the adx. Edit the adx and tick the box shown here.. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... cho#p24323

There is a little more on logging here too.. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=590

Could be a pcm wiring issue? i did everything to the letter
now i think about it the wiring had been tampered with as it had
an alarm removed at some point, fixed a couple of exposed wires but i noticed
a couple wires going to nothing.
Maybe thats the issue, seemed to run great just no connectection.
I spent hours and checked everything except that.

Its possible if its been hacked up badly. Any other vehicle you can test the hardware on? You mentioned it worked at some point with stock hardware in the first post, is it just the laptop that has changed since that?

Yeah when i 1st started i used the vt v8adx and had tuner pro rt dash all working
as i did some logging before i swapped over to make sure it was all working
same laptop.
I installed the nv ram,Went through set up the plugin and set as per instructions
and i put the switch in to disconnect bcm data.
Funny thing was every time i switch the bcm off it would crash tuner pro
when i opened it.turned it back on tuner pro was ok.
It would apparently connect and emulate icon was green when u hit the icon
but didnt list the bin and couldnt make changes, tried logging and just went crazy.
tried echo on/echo off in adx nothing, tried the same with the plug in no difference
except it would emulate, hit update and load would fail.
Also turning off the bcm feed it turned off the temp guage.
Havent got a car atm to test the other nvram setup but
hope to soon so i can see if its the car or setting issue in the laptop.

I don't have TP handy to check the ADX right now, but it could be the connection setup in it - some look for a heartbeat data frame from the BCM and then disable BCM chatter, but it shouldn't fail to connect or give jumbled data.

To confirm its all working you could try having the BCM connected and not use the plugin, if it logs using the NVRAM you know all the hardware is good and need to maybe check the ADX setup.
