well the limiting factor with the kits is normally the solenoids flow and the nozzle, the nozzles are good for 150hp shot each and the ZEX solenoids are 250hp, and the NOS ones about the 150hp mark ..... so theoretically we have the capability to push 300hp into it hehehehe

we've run it on 150hp with one kit and it did 7.89 over the 1/8th but the converter was letting it down off the line, we actually got it running last night and I can confirm that I can happily sit the converter on 2900rpm on the 2 step rev limiter so will definitely have NOS off the line now :driving:

we are not 100% sure yet but thinking we'll start with a 138hp shot off the line (biggest jet we have) then add another 60hp shot about 1500rpm later then see how it goes, and we have jets to step the 60hp up to 80hp and 100hp .... and going off calculators we are looking at 7.1's over the 1/8th maybe even 7.0's if all goes well, and these translate to close to 10.99 over the 1/4 ..... so obviously we will keep going till it either pops or goes 10 hahahah! :punk:

now all we need to do is work out the miss its got ..... its either dizzy cap, leads, injector or compression ..... but it comes and goes so im leaning towards not compression ... got a boot full of parts to try tonight :comp:

so this car also had an eventful weekend.... managed to have bugger all traction as now with the nos activating on the start line due to higher converter stall speed, it just bursts into wheel spin and then that brings the revs up then the second nitrous kit activates and its all over!

we fiddled around with which kit came on first to try and tame it down off the start line, but it just didn't help! I think we really need to get a speedo in this thing and activate the NOS on speed rather than revs!

none the less in the mean time we were still trying to jet the fuel properly for the two stages and it seems we must have gone too lean (or something didn't work) and it backfired and subsequently torched the air filter and also managed to blow the head gasket on three cylinders into the water galleries! ..... oh and broke porcelain off a number of spark plugs at the same time!

so its back onto the drawing board for a while, but also the slicks on the car are quite a few years old and almost worn to the end of the wear indicators so we are thinking they are probably not up to their best ..... so new boots will be on the cards and also going to see if we can fit another 1 inch wider tyre and also possibly 2 inches higher to help with the wheel spin.

yeah that's it ... I think the issue was we went 80% on the jet, and the fuelling was like 82% so might have just been too much .... need more jets !!

So we finally got around to starting to see what was going on with this thing after the massive backfire, on a side note i did some research into NOS backfires and it seems that if you put too much NOS in too low in the revs it can cause backfires so possibly this was the issue, we arn't really sure but the end result is fairly conclusive....

we definately knew there was a blown head gasket, we had decided we'd pull the motor, new rings and bearings while we were doing the head gasket, and also a good chance to check what it all looked like (this motor has been together for about 5-6 years in various cars.

so left to right is 6->1

6 looks like its got a twist in the rod, not 100% sure, 5 & 4 are definately bent, 3 looks perfect, 2 looks like just a minor bend near the pin, and 1 is certainly bent :P

so its looking like we need a heap of rods, otherwise everything inside the motor looked really good, maybe a new set of lifters just to be safe otherwise hone, rings and bearings.....

ahh no, just no backfires! nothing wrong with these rods in they are treated properly!

this things been coping 120-150hp shots of NOS for quite some time, never had an issue till it backfired lol .... plew the head gasket in 3 cylinders too.
