DTC with VS v8

Post by jjg »

Hello ALl

I have recently have an issue with DTC 22 showing up as the CEL error code , (low tps voltage) the ecu is expecting to see a minimum of 0.25 to about 0.5 volts , at the closed throttle position , on this modified car it is only 0.18 volts hence the error code .
Does anyone know how to recalibrate this ? , as I have tried to adjust the maximum closed throttle position to no effect , and adjusted the low throttle mechanical position , as I believe this error is interfering with IAV control.
All comments appreciated thanks

Cant rotate it , even tried to elongate the holes without destroying it . It is a dual throttle body with fabricated manifold, the tps should be on the primary throttle not the slave unit bue the builder had no where else to put it , should be nice when it is tuned .
Any opinion as with this dtc 22 the iav will not control the idle , the system is showing no other errors , does this make sense ?

i don't think you have any other options other than to adjust the tps properly.

thats the problem with aftermarket parts, they are often not machined properly to be within the right specs. i'm not saying that is the case with yours but without seeing it i can only guess.

i tuned a motor a few years ago with a CRD 4 barrel TB which used GM IAC and TPS sensors and it was perfect, but i have heard quite alot of bad stories about dodgy parts not working properly without alot of work!

Yes you are exactly right , the tps is set up by other who do not understand what the ecu expects and thus the probelams outlines happen .

Thanks for the input

Are you using standard TB's? If so there should be enough adjustment to get it right regardless of which TB it's mounted on.

Can you post a pic of your set up?

was about to say that, mine dropped off when I changed TPS and after googling the problem I went looking for this plastic cap as a few mentioned it and the fact I didn't recall seeing it there, found it the next day on the ground where I change the TPS. must of fell as I was removing the old one and never noticed it.

I had the same error code.

is there some way to put a "pull up" wire across to the signal wire or would that cause an issue?

i'm sure you could do something like that but its really not the right way to fix the problem!
