Tune help for injected 308 Hq

Post by 308HQ »

G'day. I'm new to this. Always had carby but just recently bought a hq ute with a 308 red motor and vn/vr injection setup. Starts and drives ok but has no guts and is doing 20 ltrs to the 100. Was wondering if someone could do a chip that would suit it better? I'll describe the ute a bit better. Red 308 20thou over, flat tops and shaved heads and deck tho not sure how much. VR clubsport heads. Vn ex-chaser computer. Crane 276 cam. I think all the sensors injectors etc are off the clubby as well. I can find out if necessary. Also running a turbo 400 transmission, K&N pod filter, pacemakers and twin exhaust. All I'm after is a tune that'll run well with the cam, give me some drivability, and get my fuel economy to a point where I can drive it to work without my pay check going on fuel.
Can anyone help me out?
Cheers.

You're best trying to find if somebody local to you can help out.
Where are you located?
Otherwise chances are you'll end up with something similar to what you've got.

why the red motor block, so the engine number doesn't need to change ?

Local mechanic shops won't touch delco or want over a grand to dyno tune it. I'm located about an hour south of Sydney. I bought it as is. I think it's the red block just cuz that's what was already in it and old mate thought its just be easier to slap injection gear on that rather than buy a whole new motor. I know it can't be tuned to its full potential just by programming a new chip off a list of information but I was hoping it could be got pretty close? Also I had a look at the throttle body the other day and foot flat to the floor it was only getting about 1/3 throttle. So bent the accerlerator pedal and goes much better with the throttle actually opening up. Have only driven it for about 10 minutes tho. I'm sure it still needs a good tune.

I'm in Narellan, I could probably give you a hand with it if you're anywhere nearby.
I'm not an expert at tuning these, but it sounds like just about anything would be an improvement
Even just getting some logs for others to look at might be worthwhile...

Not sure if I can give you an assist Festy but I tuned a 308 with crane 286 cam a little bit ago not sure if that may be a better starting point?

I was thinking stock 12P, wideband, and lots of logging but if you had a bin that would be a better starting point it would save lots of time and effort...
