Tuning with just mtx-l gauge
Tuning with just mtx-l gauge
As I can't get my mtx-l gauge reading the same in tunerpro's dash, is there any way to tune by just reading the gauge and not doing the wideband logging?

Re: Tuning with just mtx-l gauge
the only way you'd be able to do it is to hold the engine at load points and change that way, and really the only way your going to do this with any sort of speed safely would be on the dyno.
the must be something wrong though if its out, can you post your bin and ADX that you are using up so we can see whats what ?
also if you can get a screen shot of the lm programmer setup that would help too (include the analog output screens etc)

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Are you sure that gauge isn't wrong and not TP?
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

its ok if you can get someone to drive the car and you work the laptop, as long as hes not a throttle jockey like one of my mates!!

yeah my mate doesn't comprehend the term "steady state" lol and he wonders why i take his car for a drive around the block by myself when tuning it!

Re: Tuning with just mtx-l gauge
it would be a matter of having a driver cruise along at say 2400rpm, 50kpa, delcowizzid in the passenger seat with the laptop and watching the wideband readings, adjust that point in the ve table till the wideband is the same as commanded AFR, then move to a different rpm or kpa point and do the same.
things like lightly applying the brakes or shifting back a gear will allow you to get to higher rpm or kpa load points.
the main thing is someone that can maintain a good constant rpm and load without having to be on and off the throttle.
you can probably see how this will be made alot easier on a dyno!

Also watch the trend and edit more than one cell at a time, and keep the overall shape smooth. Because it usually wont be dead on one cell it'll weight the values between the cells around the point, so having one cell different will give you an uneven point and skew the results.
