Knock retarding without knock counts

I have an issue with a vs v8, 355 manual with a medium cam and come ttb manifold. using 12P with a knock board and knock sensor.

WOT runs aren't producing knock, however while cruising if you stab the throttle mainly around the 2000 rpm mark its knock retarding without registering a knock. ive richened up alot of the ve tables especially in the areas it seems to be knocking with no real changing in the knock retarding.
I did try calibrate the burst knock retard, with no noticeable change. is there anything that registers the burst knock retard in the logging of 12p?

I believe its false knock, as the motor doesn't appear to be knocking especially as its not registering knock counts. however I don't want to continue to drive it until the problem is assessed.

posted is a log with a couple of WOT and cruise acc

burst knock?

Burst knock is disabled in a standard 12P bin, but if it has been enabled can zero it with "Burst Knock Retard - Burst Knock Retard active value".

In the log the first two times it pulled timing but no counts were logged but as it happens so quickly often it gets missed. If you use the message 6 ADX it will often pickup the counts that are missed using the normal ADX. Can also use a custom message 6 to speed things up further.

Can try ignoring a few counts at that RPM if its false knock, can use knock count logging with an NVRAM, pull some timing and see if you get less and maybe even remove some fuel as its pretty rich.

EDIT: Flashtool V1.45 has BKRTD and knock counter options setting up a custom message 6. The knock counter increments on every knock event so even if it happens really quickly you will see it in the log.

Sorry im using an nvram and knock count logging is enabled. Its only showing 4 and 5's mainly around the 2200rpm mark and hardly anywere else.
I did try and turn on burst knock retard how its the % values that sorta confused me in terms of actually settig it up.

In terms of fuel and timing in this particular log it is richer than i have been running it just to see if it was leaning out a bit much on the stab of the throttle. And even removed some timing around those areas (they are only around 20 degrees) still to not much luck in actually reducing the knock.

Most of the WOT runs show no knock or knock retarding, wouldn't you expect to see it more thtere than just a stab of the throttle while cruising?

Ok i shall setup a msg6 command and see how i go?
I want to find out if flase knock or real knock before i go ignoring some knock counts

is it definately a v8 knock filter for a start.

maybe disable rdsc and try it.it looks like a calibration effected retard theres no knock counts so it must be commanded retard based on throttle opening

Yes definently a v8 knock board prefix 1F.

Ok ill try disabling RDSC first see if that might sort a bunch of the issues out otherwise ill setup the msg6 and go from there.
Is disabling RDSC likely to change the driveability a bit? As there seems alot of configurations for manaul trans's
Note: i can say that the knock retard does seem to happen alot more in 4th when stabbing the throttle than in other gear.. 3rd is the next prominant.

I turned off rdsc and it Was still knock retarding so
I don't think it was that i do have a log which ill post up later.

Vl: So i setup the msg6 and it is logging knock counts however with the knock counter it doesn't seem to be incrementing at all. It stays at 0, what settings does it need. And is there and is there any examples around of setting up burst knock retard?

attached is the msg 6 log with adx, both the bkrtd and the knock counter do not appear to be working so the std ose12p msg6 adx is all that is need.

the first acceleration in the log is a WOT run the rest are just cruise then stab throttle. the problem only seems to be occurring around the 1600-2400ish. nothing above that, that I can tell.

but knock is clearly being logged.
towards the end I did start removing heaps of timing which lowered the knock events however I don't see how I wouldn't be having issues with WOT runs with that increased timing?

its not the engine hitting on the k frame or the exhaust banging on the floor or axle tramping/spinning all of these will trigger false knock
