Need help with VX S1 V6 - Error Code 24 and 20

Post by dmenace »

Hey Guys,

I need your assistance and i'm not sure where to post this.

I had the fuel pump changed today. (Check Valve Issues)

Anyways the mechanic hooked up his Autel Maxidas diag to calibrate the fuel gauge. This worked fine.

He also decided to check for any codes. Couldn't find any at the time...

Anyways what he told me is that he did a ECU reset (not entirely sure) and now i'm receiving these 2 errors.

24 -EEPROM Checksum Error

20 - SDM Fault Logged

The car gets the Serv Error on startup and the Airbag light stays on.

He has tried clearing the codes with the Autel Unit but they keep appearing....

Also whilst browsing through the options in the Autel, he noticed that the cluster setup was coming under V6 Supercharged. He programmed it back to V6 and now my tacho is idling at 2K rpm. He tried to revert the changes but it didn't fix it. In engineering mode the the idle is correct though.

Do i need to goto Holden? Or someone with a Tech 2?

you might be able to fix it yourself with a regular aldl cable. the flashtool here http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=82 will be able to reprogram the pcm and set the checksum which will resolve DTC24 so long as there is no hardware error. You can reset the SDM yourself, but again, if there is still a fault on the circuit it will trigger again. This is likely for the age of the car so probably you need to go someone can check the actual circuit and hardware as well and then reset the code once confirmed its ok.

Thanks for the response.

I already have an ALDL cable.

I'll see if i can get my head around using the flashtool

Yeah i'm hoping there isn't a circuit/hardware issue because the car has never displayed these errors prior to him resetting the ECU etc.

to reset the error you'll need to use the flashtools function to send aldl, and send FA,56,0A,A6 and if that doesnt work FB,56,0A,A6
once you've sent it, nothing will happen just key off and on again to see if it worked.

I cant get flash tool to connect to my VX.

Found some settings but no luck

Update got it to Connect. But seems to close the COM port?

I was able to get EEPROM but unable to get BIN or RAM or send commands.

Is there a list of ALDL commands somewhere?

The two fault codes your getting are not PCM related, so the get EEPROM wont help you as its from the PCM.

With the flashtool you will need to go to the preferences, select the vehicle as 'Flash PCM in Vehicle' and 'USB ALDL' as the interface. Select the com port of the ALDL device and your done. Try clicking connect and it should find the PCM.

The two commands antus mentioned will clear fault codes of the SRS module. You can send them from the send commands function under the flashtool Tools menu.
