L67 tuning with A2A and MAF?

Post by immortality »

Hey guys,

Has anybody ever tried tuning a A2A equipped L67 with a MAF but moving the MAF so it sits between the FMIC and the A2A plate (MAF close to the A2A plate)? Possibly using later LS6 type MAF with the inbuilt air temp sensor?

It would possibly be a lot simpler than most A2A installations which tend to go to the Kalmaker modified PCM with MAP conversion route.

thats how most used to do it move maf and air temp sensor to just before plate

I believe it gets better response & easier to tune when you have the throttle body on the cold side too!

I can confirm if you just leave throttle standard position & put maf on cool air side it will not run properly as the maf is registering too much air & telling it to use too much fuel!

Yeah, I would imagine that it would still need a full tune to suit.

I don't think it's going to be just a matter of tune, without the throttle being on engine side before maf there is going to be too much reverberation interfering especially in near closed throttle positions!

O.K. well you can't put the throttle body on cold air side either as it will build up pressure from charger & not be able to go anywhere!

Not sure of a way around it?

theres a couple of ways of doing it, 1 is to use a recirculating valve and blow off valve, 2nd way is to use 2 throttle body's 1 before the charger as normal and 1 on the cool side that way when the throttle is closed the charger cant produce boost

I thought of the recirculation mode, but wasn't sure the best way to do it without mucking anything up.

2 throttle body's so I assume they both run off the same cable how do you run that as at the moment it has 2 throttle bodies anyway!

i dont know what your set up is, but ive done it with 1 before and 1 after the charger and linked the tb's with a cable at a 1 to 1 ratio and set the idle stop with a feeler gauge and set the before charger tb with a few thou less opening so it can crate a small vac through the charger of less than 1" water colume (inches water colume not inches mercury)
